Title: Happy Camper - Deposit paid on Edition 30!
Post by: Billy on February 02, 2012, 12:40:40 pm
Put a deposit down today on an Edition 30 :)

It's a red 5DR, with DSG and lots of toys (except for sat nav which I'll now be looking for to retrofit).

Sadly the buyer for my current car doesn't pick it up until 18th February so need to wait until after that to go and get the car :(

Looking forward to getting behind the wheel of my first GTi :happy2:

Cheers Tamiyoman :)

Can you or anyone else tell me anything in particular I should ask the stealers to check before I pick the car up?

Was there an recalls on these cars?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for any 'must have' mods? (Not big stuff just yet but little bits 'n' pieces).

I've already bought an Edition 30 badge for the front grill and a rabbit logo for the boot

Ask Stealers to make sure Coil pack recall (replacement) was done if you car had old cpoilpacks which were faulty (rusty) also make sure stealers have done DSG oil service which is due at 40K miles (you dont mention mileage) and cambelt service at 60K miles or 4 years old (again no age on the car).

Regards cheap bits front badge and rabbit are 2 of them, there are also alloy inserts available for your front seat handles (look nice and I have them too) pm member "gulfstream11" on this forum, you will need 10 posts before you can PM him tho!

Thats the cheap bits I can think of, after that its a slippery slope of mods good luck!

Hate to say this but keep an eye on the apex of your front wheelarch lip, my 55 plate gti has bubbling paint due to the foam insert inside the wing chafing on the wing itself, a common mechanical fault on the mk5 platform. Your ed30 might not be old enough for the problem to have reared it's head though.

If its an 07 plate coilpacks may need/have been done and also cambelt should have been done as its 4 years aold (or older), DSG your gonna be paying for yourself unless you can telk them into doing it as its close now!

Replace all your interior lights with LEDs nice crisp white light makes such a difference to your interior.
Can pick them up as a full kit  on Ebay for £20.
Then change your number plate lights to LEDs too also on Ebay £10 well spent
Cheap mods and a good way to start. :happy2:

Will definitely be doing Stage 1 but will probably wait until the car is out of warranty :happy2:
