Hi guys. Ive just registerd as a new member. I am looking for a candy white edition 30 08/58 plate 3dr,manual transmission, with fvwsh, highline with not to high miles. Im wondering what sort of price i should be lookig to pay and if anyone would be able to help me to find a decent one? Cheers.

Cant help you find one im afraid but regards money manuals tend to be cheaper than DSG (reflected in them being £1K cheaper from factory than DSG cars).
I would be looking for 08 plate as there are only half a dozen 58 plates that I know of as most were regged before september 2008 and from June/July I think Pirelli was available anyway, well my car was build number 2235 and reg'd in mid May 08 so only 65 after mine as there are only 2300 in the country.
Price wise, depends on seller, some ask fair money and some ask stupid money, I paid £12k for my own Candy White Edition 30 08 plate 5dr DSG 39k FVWSH and it had every option on it except folding mirrors, bluetooth and cruise control (cruise was retro-fitted for me by fellow member eddie_nl for under £100), I dont want/need BT or folding mirrors, I bought it in late october / early November (2011) and seller needed to sell and I drove a hard bargain, do your homework and go armed with facts that was when sellers is sticking on price and says "Its worth every penny" you can say "Err no it aint here are 7 that sold in last 6 weeks for much less!!"
Average miles for 08 plates will be around 46-48K (Basing it on average 12k p/a)
I see lots of 07 platers asking 12.5 to 13K and they stay for sale a while
I would aim to pay less than £13K (12K ideally)
Keep checking Ebay, Autotrader website, British Car Auctions website, Pistonheads, Gumtree etc and you will find your car eventually (it took me around 5 months fro start to finish).

Some really good info there thanks. These cars are like hens teeth to find. I've just missed out on 2 that where for sale in the past month. Also emailed a guy about one,but he didnt want to part with it. I was expecting to pay £14k-£15k. Will keep up my search. Thanks.

Maybe your not as tight as me or dont like to make a seller cry as you drive off in his pride n joy and you still have £2k left in your pocket :P

I think there are even less than that. Whilst lurking in another GTI forum I saw a post linking to the dvla website, i think, showing how many Edition 30's there are on the roads registered. Im sure it was less than 800 in the UK.
-
VW confirmed that 2300 were built and registsred in UK, dozen written off and I have seen at least another couple of dozen on CAt C or Catd D (having been written off previosuly and repaired) so good ones are scarce!, but they could not telll me how many of each colour as their records dont have such info im afraid.

I can see this is going to be hard work, but im sure it will be worth it in the end.

Deffo worth it, love driving mine, really looking forward to getting mine re-mapped and annoying some M3 owners and denting their superiority complexes
-
Whats your opinion on the dsg compared to the manual? Am not sure if id like it.
-
Manual all the way for me on my ED30. :happy2:

I searched for my ed30 for around 6 or 7 months. A few did show there faces in this time but were either a high milage or were highly modded.
Then after a long wait , I found the right one. It really pays off to be patient and wait, no matter how long it takes. Keep a cool head and the right one will come along :happy2:
For me , the gti is a drivers car , so I opted for a manual box. I just love the feel of changing gear and being in control. But dont get me wrong the dsg is a great box too

love the candy white ones wish we had got white instead of black now!

I am considering selling mine, but haven't made a decision yet, but it would be expensive. 08 reg, virtually no extras, 6,600 miles. If you want full details email me - tg55@hotmail.co.uk . Trev.

Thanks Trev. :happy2:

Hi Neil, my Ed30 is a May 08 car, #2227 with 29200 miles on it. It was pretty standard new as I think the last few weren't built to order and therefore did not come with massive spec. Mine came with the tints and armrest and i've added cruise and RNS510 sat nav since. Mine does not have highline or MFSW, 2 options that I'd like but aren't easy or cheap to retrofit!
It's a real tricky one - should i sell - shouldn't I sell - I do feel current prices are very good, if you can find one. They've dropped around 20-25% in the latter half of 2011 but think they've bottomed out for a while now. If you can find a good one for say £12-13k then i doubt it'll lose much in the next 12-18 months. The white ones do and should command a premium due to their slightly higher demand and lower supply. I wanted a white 3dr DSG but settled on a manual as couldn't wait any longer. I'm glad I've a manual now as DSGs have higher maintenance regimes.
The Ed30's are such good cars that for me to find a replacement vehicle that ticks all the boxes as the Ed30 does - Rocco R or Audi TTS - would mean spending £25k+ and currently I'm struggling to justify it when I have a mortgage on my Aston Martin!!
Offer me £14500 for my Ed30 and then maybe

Dont forget to start a topic in the Wanted section too!

Hi Mako, not sure about above comment as my own Candy ED30 (#2235) came with every optional extra apart from folding mirrors, bluetooth and cruise (cruise retro-fitted).
Nice Aston btw, friends dad has a vanquish, never been in it but sure looks good sat on his drive!
**EDIT** sorry its not a vanquish its a DBS coupe, he changed it and I cant tell the difference it seems :sad1:
-
Hi mako. Is there any chance you could send me your email address? :happy2:
