Title: Is it worth fitting Forge silicone hoses?
Post by: berg on February 02, 2012, 10:31:17 pm
Hi guys,

have been looking at fitting the full complement of Forge hoses to my stg 2+ ED30 but as will come to over £200.00 and car is running well is this a lot to spend on just making the engine bay a bit smarter?

Or, as i have had one boost leak since running at this level of tune is is worth doing as a preventative measure/might ensure better results on the RR dyno if a small leak is present in oem hoses?

Also, as I have the S3 IC fitted am I right in thinking that Forge dont seem to do uprated hoses for the S3 IC (maybe no requirement for them if OEM ones better than the GTI??)

Thanks

I think your money would be better spent on decent couplings tbh, as it is these that usually fail

Also look at good clamps - T-bolt clamps. Maybe you can find cheaper on the web but gives you idea. Never failed for me, even on my last turbo car.

no mate, have not done another dyno run, bit disheartened by them tbh as both times have done them have either gone wrong or the figures are pete tong, my car runs well so not sure whether to bother anymore - my car is over 300bhp, whether or not it is 330 or 370 is irrelevant really i guess as cant really get any more out of it without fitting twintercooler and upping timing...

Are silicone hoses not supposed to be stiffer, moving away from the hoses expanding therefore giving great impact of boost?
