Title: aftermarket unit with reversing camera

hi folks bought an aftermarket dvd/sat nav reversing camera unit from fleabay for my 09 leon tdi fr. trying to install a reversing camera for it. bought one that goes in place of the numberplate light on the rear bumper. any ideas on best place to pick up supply from reversing lights. anyone completed this task?

Yes I've had one of these with my Zenec HU's, however they have integrated CAN interface so I ran a VGA, 12v and gnd cable from the camera to the rear of the stereo, where there is a dedicated lead for all (so it automatically comes on when reverse selected).

Some might say take a feed from your boot 12v socket.

Why not run a dedicated 12v feed from the fusebox, its just a single wire that you have to run from the back of the car rather than taping into something else

where did you guys mount your reversing cameras?

at the moment i've got mine mounted high up in the rear glass.lol

I have a number plate light camera with built in LEDs. I dissected a light unit basically keeping the outer as a template, put the camera in and the template gave it something to bite on when screwing it in, otherwise it's hitting fresh air.

Very discrete too.
