Title: Fitting lowering springs (price)
Post by: maxload on February 04, 2012, 12:22:23 pm
I've just purchased some Eibach springs for my ed30.
I cant wait to get them fitted , however I have just been quoted £180 all in. I was'nt expecting this much.
Is this the going rate , or would it pay me to shop around or maybe supply someone here some beer tokens to help me fit them?
I'm based in southampton

Does that include the geometry setup after the install?

Mine didn't  :booty: Cost me another £60.  :sad1:

I'm not 100% sure if it needs doing, but in theory dropping the car 40ish mm is going to change allsorts of things that need setting back up for the new ride height.
 :happy2:

Depends on the labour rate as it's only a two hour job for a competent mechanic. Sounds a bit high to me. I'd be looking to pay £100 max!

I didn't ask , but I would like to think this would be included in the price as i'm sure a proper set up would need doing.

Just been quoted £90 for fitting and £45 for full alignment which seems to be about right.

That's a really good price, you'd have no chance of that price in London.
I would definitely recommend the 4 wheel geometry and not just standard tracking, it never turns out right!

Sounds about right £100-£125. I would flatly refuse to pay anymore. No more than 2 hrs labour. It would be cheaper to go out and buy the correct tools for the job and do it yourself than pay what you have been quoted.

I am going to ring around a few more places to get a better idea.
Cheers for the input guys

I paid £130 cash to have my H&Rs fitted. This included alignment.
Wish I had the skills/balls to do these jobs myself!
