Post by: Rich on April 26, 2009, 05:26:57 pm
Hi,

Does anyone know where i can get a set of  reg plates cut small ( at the sides )

I want to keep the legal front size.

My reg is F1BRE ( i can shave the plate at the side being only 5 letters )

Anyone know a website or place ?

Yep, Fancyplates  :happy2:

I have legal small plate on mine.
Just pick the custom size and in the message box just write something like "as small as legally possible" and they'll sort the sizing.

Yep.

I have my front as 78mm+11mm+11mm high, where 11mm is the min legal border gap and 78mm is the legal letter height.
Width is the same with 11mm border and legal min width letters.

Fancyplates are the kiddies. I had a smaller version made for my Alfa as the std plate looked too "Heavy" for the side of the car.
They will custom make any size you want too.  :happy2:

I have a place i go to, every car/bike ive had has had small plates/letters/spacing/ numbers changed to letters/letters changed for numbers.
IE, L15A?? D4N??
so if you dont get sorted giz a shout. size/background/style/colour.

I used to cut mine down but the law is now getting tough on this too!

They put the British Standard mark on the corner of the plate and when its cut off, they're illegal and you can face the same penalties as running german plates, italics, etc.

Beware guys!

The company where I normally order my plates from, published this infographic about vehicle tax changes. http://www.gbshowplates.co.uk/new-car-tax-rules-2014/ (http://www.gbshowplates.co.uk/new-car-tax-rules-2014/) Great summary and worth a read if you're like me and just want to know what you need to do differently without trawling through heaps of articles.
