Hi guys, finally got my RNS fitted (bought if off PDT ages ago) unit is playing music fine etc but is not picking up satellites so it thought it was still in Geordie land!
Fitted on Sat so it was thought that it might come on line after a day or so as has not been used for so long but is still not picking up anything and says satellites -0/0.
Have bought a new antenna off e bay but has anyone come across this and if so what are the most likely problems?
Thanks

where have you fitted the antenna?
make sure the 'GPS' writing on the antenna is facing upwards....i.e. if its got a magnetic base, that should be facing DOWN towards the ground
ideally place the antenna in the roof of the car and route the wire up the A-pillar, or just sit above the centre vent
good luck!

hi mate, thanks for reply, antenna is hidden away in the dash

The antenna was placed outside of the car for a good 20 mins trying to get a gps acquisition. No such luck :(

When my car was off the road for 3 weeks whilst on holiday, when I came back it took almost 2 weeks for the unit to pick up satellites again, so I would suggest to be patient. Unlike me as I brought a new GPS antenna and never needed it.

cheers, yeah in fairness me and Jay were sat in a dodgy layby listerning to the Chipmunks (dont ask, oh ok then PDT was a huge fan ) with the antenna on the roof and it did not pick up a signal. i hope i dont need the antenna now have bought it, fingers crossed...

It's normally just a waiting game. To be fair with how cheap the antennas are it's worth buying a new one just to rule that out. When you get it and the fakra adaptor from the dealers we'll have another play ;)

Sorry Jay, can you explain your signature pic to me again one more time? How many twin brothers did you say you have again? :signLOL:

Mine took a good few hours to sort itself out and then a day or so to home in on the correct position exactly.

so did yours eventually say 4/8 satellites or something and gradually got stronger?

............can that be right?.Shurley as soon as it powers back up it would find the satellites straight away?. My 6 year old Garmin that got used 2 a year & always worked straight away.
Got a Pioneer sat nav in the dash now & again soon as it powers up everything works straight away.

To be honest I didn't check the number of satellites as it 'dialled' itself in.
