All of a sudden I lost power - then it came back
At the moment its not on......
I know I need a scan, but any suggestions?

Diesel buddy
is there a chance it said emissions workshop? i take it its a 2 lt?
without a scan its a little hard to tell, but ive had a few with this come up on the display and its been the throttle flap motor, now without a scan have a look at the fuse box under the bonnet, i cant remember what fuse number it is (maybe fuse 7 or 8) anyway if you find a fuse has blown and its for the rad fan then i think your fault will be the flap motor which is part of the throttle body, IIRC they are £180 from GSF
Hope this helps mate

yea its 2.0 (GT TDI)
The message never said anything detailed.. just engine fault/workshop.
When it came up - and I pressed the pedal - it did not respond at all. Ignition off, restarted it was fine.....

It does sound like the Flap motor, have a check of the fuses if its blown do a code read and im sure it will say the flap motor

Will have a look in the morning.
Never looked before - just the one box of fuses under there?

Yes mate as you look at the Battery cover there is a fuse box on the right, the cover is clipped on, let me know how you get on mate :happy2:

I had the throttle actuator go on my jetta it never came up with any warnings just the engine management light and actuator had seized solid and had also blown the fuse under the bonnet so like Phil said if you have a blown fuse then that will be your problem.

Will have a look lads.....
Had No Eng Mgt light come on.......just a non responsive accl pedal.

the fuses being ok blows my idea out the window, it needs to be plugged in and have a code read done mate

i had this same problem with my old Audi A3 2ltdi, ended up it was a problem with the turbo, but i traded the car in before fixing it. had the same problem as you have explained but as you said soon as you turn the engine off and back on it goes away for a few days so could be the same fault
