Title: Which intake
Post by: craig_t on February 07, 2012, 11:16:49 pm
Been looking at getting an aftermarket intake for a whole now, but not entirely sure which one to get. Can anyone recommend any.

Basically I'm after the quietest intake, but still have good gains.

The Dilbia's intakes are meant to be quiet but good gains.

I've just fitted the good old ITG to mine, not proper quiet but sounds immense!

To be honest mate,
Whichever one people own now is the one they will recommend to you,
There are loads of topics and reviews which will answer any questions you have.
Just use the search button on the top tool bar.
There are pro's/ cons, and sometimes youtube videos to give you an idea what to expect. :happy2:

Why quiet  :sad1:

The ITG is the best for performance in my opinion but if you want it sound more like standard then I think people rate the Dbilas kit.

If its quiet you want then dont forget the vwr racing intake. It is a rebadged itg enclosed filter. Thats what i shall be purchasing later in the year. The itg is a cracking air filter  :happy2:

Depends on what you want it for:

Power - ITG/Forge TwinTake
Noise - Neuspeed P-Flo
Looks - Carbonio/VF engineering (imho)
Cheap tat that doesn't fit properly - BSH True Seal

I've got a forge twintake, good gains (I hope - no rolling road yet to back up these claims yet tho :signLOL:) have to say it is a little bit noisey ( but I just love the suck/chatter it makes)

Other posts seem to say Twintake gives around 12-17bhp over std airbox.

I've got the VWR intake, it doesn't make too much noise round town but has a great sound when you give it some beans out on the open road! Look neater and comes in less parts than some others I'd seen which is what I wanted and fits really well in the engine bay. Love the look of the new APR/Carboni one though!
