I've been reading about the pcv blanking plates that are available but what I really want to know is,
1. For those that just have the plate without a catch can, do you notice a difference?
2. Any issues? Decline in mpg? Oil consumption etc?
3. Any engine damage without a catch can?
I've been reading up on them, I'm having jerky moments in my car when cold and does feel sluggish for 240bhp compared to the cupra I had before, so I'm looking at this as an option, or replace the oem version for the new revision.
Any help would be appreciated from those who have it, feel free to post positive and negatives as well :)

ive got the bosch pcv blank plate and mine runs great.had stage 1 tune and was leaking boost so had the plate fitted and havent had a problem since.

Having fitted all the aftermarket pcv fixes I opted to fit the OE pcv back again. It was really because the engine felt smoothest when fitted and there was no noticable performance difference going from the bsh to the OE pcv.

It's been updated man times now. A number of times last year

Many times in the last year, surprised at that not what I was expecting.

The latest revision is 'P' but that may also require you to fit a new rear breather hose with a check valve aswell. I have the 'L' revision fitted and have not had any running problems to date...though famous last words :signLOL:
I think VW keep redesigning it as they havent perfected it yet. They also have running issues with the TSi pcv aswell.

I tried lifting the dipstick up while engine was running and it went rough as sh*t, so that should indicate the pcv is working correctly yes?
Still not sure whether to get the blanking plate or not? Does anyone know with the new revision of the oem pcv, what model can I go upto before I need this check valve?

Thanks Mike, well the car is going in on Monday so I'll let them have a look :) Although if it's miss-fires due to coilpack etc I've not got an EML on so I doubt they'll pick it up on the diagnostics :-(

If the engine runs rough when pulling out the dipstick I would presume the pcv is fine. Have the spark plugs been changed as they can be the cause of poor performance and misfires.

Exactly what I thought, and no they haven't. Dealer's said 60k but am sure it's 40k service?
Guys with the TFSI's, what plugs are you running? I haven't got a map on (yet) would you stick with OEM or go with the likes of NGK?

Im mapped and run NGK irridium BKR7EIX. Some people use the colder BKR8EIX. Standard the 7s will be fine and even upto stage 2+ they will be fine. There have been mixed reports from other forum members about the 8s. Some have reported the plugs fouling because they dont get hot enough to burn away the deposits and others have used them with no issues. I personally would stick with the 7s.

Hmm they seem cheap enough, are they brand specific or do any set of those NKG ones fit? Sorry to sound like an idiot haha

The ones you refer to are the ngk standard plugs that vw fit. I got my iridium plugs cheaper than the oe ones and my engine runs silky smooth on them. I had a set of the oe ones and they burned out after a month. I presume I had one with a faulty core but I havent had any issues with the iridiums i have currently fitted
