Title: Too much torque
Post by: Big Red T on February 09, 2012, 01:13:08 am
Guys I need your advice. I've just bought my previous edition30 back from the guy I sold it too. Problem is he had a local tuner who maps diesels etc map it for stage 1 and fit a forge diverter valve. The tuner has supplied a map which on his hub dyno is producing 313bhp and 357 lbft. After reading here for a year or two surely this is too peaky for stage one torque. I'll post a graph for your opinions but it's making this torque at 3084rpm. Question is  am I asking for trouble? My previous stage 1 eddy made 299 bhp and 310 lbft with no spike in the graph.

That spike looks a bit worrying - you can tell he's a Diesel mapper!
You want a much smoother torque curve to preserve grip, clutch and tyres.

Thats spike looks clutch killing. Id be inclined to have another map put on or reflashed by the dealer back to standard.

That torque spike isnt right, on a dynapack hub dyno you need to input run time, which may have been incorrectly entered. If the run time or load applied is too small then this can be the effect.

Does it show on the graph what the run time, ramp rate, inertia values are etc....?

Got a boost graph?

@PDT ,no that's the only graph that came with it. My thoughts were that I'll lose traction far to easy with that. The spike seems pointless to me as it's only a couple of rpm where surely if it was just building to around300/310 it would smooth the curve out. I'm concerned for my clutch although not slipping yet I can see a cold night or uphill blast doing it good.

Im not too convinced that the reading is true, get it onto a dyno that has an inertia that is closer to real road use, any dyno dynamics operators near you?

@PDT, no I don't think they're dyno dynamics near me. Here's a little grab of my previous maps which I thought were a lot better looking. These are what made me concerned.
