Have done a quick search on here which came up with a few results. This thread in particular http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,17871.msg254397.html#msg254397 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,17871.msg254397.html#msg254397)
Now I have rang 2 local dealers and one wants 25 quid and the other 15 quid. Is this to be expected as I have read people getting it free of charge. I have the car vin number plus serial number for the radio. Only reason I need it as I am having highline fitted later and been told I will need the code.
So if anyone could help it would be muchly appreciated

depends which radio you have, but i would have thought you received the radio code with the car if its the original radio that came with it...if you didnt i dont see why VW wouldnt actually provide you with the code free of charge - it is your car/radio afterall...

VW don't normally charge for the code - that sounds a bit odd to me
I can't see why you would need the code either if you are having high line fitted
Did it come factory installed?

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get it FOC through Kalu off here. For info though the radio is the standard RCD300 that came with the car but for some reason the code card has been lost.
All back up and running now so happy again. Would have been a long drive home without any music.
The car came with midline but when the highline is fitted, because the immo data hasn't been transferred it locks the radio. TBH I don't know the the full ins and outs and whats involved so I'm not 100% sure.

Glad to hear its sorted
yeah the immo data would make sense!
