Title: Leather going shiny :(
Post by: Sarah on February 12, 2012, 03:54:52 pm
The leather in my car is going a bit shiny, how do I bring it back to a nice matt finish?

I have been using race glaze leather cleaner and balm about every 6 months.

Does it just need cleaning more often?

Just use the cleaner and not the balm! It's the balm making it shiny probably. Just clean it every three months

As above. VW leather has a plastic coating so pretty muh nothing gets into the leather. Any feeds/balms etc will just sit on the surface.

Ah ok thanks guys :)

It's a full retrim in red nappa so not standard vw leather, not using balm still applys yes?

Depends on the leather but modern ones still tend to have a coating. Try just cleaning it wihout using a balm.

It will still be coated leather. Don't use any balms or conditioner

Jay, any idea on whether you can still get dye transfer despite coatings?

Yeh you can get due transfer on coated leather easily.
