Hey guys I know the tapping is the direct injection but whys the hissing to the left that sounds like misses Hubbard is biking by?
I've checked the DV and its a revision G? Is this any good? Also removed the dipstick and it ticked over lumpy?
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Jase

Campbelt tensioner mate..
Oh so this is a normal noise? and nothing to worry about?
Cheers for the help guys! this forum is invaluable! :happy2:

Yes cold engine, disappears when warmed up. Yes next Cam belt change, get the tensioner changed and that'll cure it.
Removing the dipstick will make it run lumpy, a faulty pcv causes lumpy idling , and if by pulling out the dipstick wouldn't make any difference
Your just de stabilising crankcase pressure by removing the filler cap or pulling the dipstick, which will upset the manor in which the engine stabilises it's idle.
-
Yep cambelt tension, mine did this before cambelt change. All good now.
-
I see....Well that makes me feel better think I'll get it done now it's due in June anyway...thanks for this guys! :happy2:

That's a bit soon really isn't it? can it be adjusted without actually replacing it all to try and cure it?
there not the most attractive sounding engines are they

I am glad someone answered this, as my own ED30 started doing this only this week, I kind of guessed it was possibly cambelt or a tensioner, its getting done in May anyway on its 4yr anniversary :happy2:

I'm quite anal with servicing tbf. If anything was being changed, fore it would have to be full cambelt kit again.
I'm not sure what the noise I'm getting now is I'll get a vid
-
Mine sound like that too...is it a big job to do as my cambelt is not due for another 30k
-
my cambelt used to do it but no where near as bad as that and i got a new cambelt and water pump done f.o.c on warranty :jumpmove:
-
Mines making same noise even tho I've changed cambelt kit and tensioner 20k ago.
Anyone with same problem?
Only happens when it cold

Vid taken from inside the car as I was convinced it was a loose bolt. Mine has done this as well since purchased in August. Cambelt is due, just over 4 yoa on 28k.

Try and do a sound clip outside on idle as that's difficult to make out its the same problem. Yours might be a blown pcv.

Yep I had that sound @19K.....warranty job at the time but I had x2 idlers, cambelt and tensioner inc waterpump all done at the same time....same as Steve said, did it from cold then shut up after a while.
-
i made the same post last year :signLOL:
i got the cam belt (it was nearly due)changed and now its silent :happy2:
but nothing to worry about
-
I too have a cambelt video!

Same noise as mine altho mine is quieter than that, once warmed up its barely noticeable.

Yeah, at first it was only audible when the engine was cold, but eventually it got to a point when it was pretty pervasive.

Video outside, excluding the squeakyness. The rusty bolt at the centre of the video, above the belt, is making all the noise, it seems to me. WHat is it?
