Post by: Rhino on February 17, 2012, 11:01:28 pm
dunno if  anyone else has had this problem....

if i undo  front windows a little bit, then try do them up they end up automatically going down on there own. then have to keep finger on button to make them go backup.

have you tried resetting them? disconnect the battery and then reconnect, then reset them by holding all the way down until you hear a click and then all the way up until a click, then they should have auto up and down again? work for mine when they were playing up a while ago

This happens to my Golf all the time too.. it was just my drivers side but not the passenger side does it too.. So annoying when i need to close the window quickly and it goes down :( It did it on my Dads 2006 Passat also.. common fault on VW? Sometimes my passenger door doesnt unlock with the rest of the doors too which is also so annoying as i have lock and unlock again or use the button on drivers door to let a passenger in the front!! Grr!

This sorted mine but I didn't disconnect the battery.  I didn't hear any clicking but held the switch in each position for about 3 seconds after it was all the way up or down

Nope everything else will work fine just as it used to, it's only the windows that get thier memory reset

There is also something in the manual about resetting the one touch opening & closing which cured my windows for a while.

'Close all windows & doors. Lock the door with the key & hold in lock position for at least 1 second'

Might be useful?!

I think this might be a fault with the window regulator. It might throw up a code on VCDS too

There are some window regulators on ebay, it might help to contact your main dealer first though to find out the exact part number for your car!
