I've been wondering if the MK6 mirrors would fit the MK5 doors? i really love the shape of the new mirrors and think they would look quite smart on the MK5..
Anyone know if this is possible?

I know a guy who put MK6 mirrors on an R32. It took quite a bit of work from what I remember.

Ahh cheers for the reply. I was thinking if they were plug in and play with not much work i'd get it done.. Not worth the hassle if a lot has to be done :sad1:

I can't remember where the main issues were but he's a fairly competent hands-on person so that helped a lot.

You sure that's not cos the retro fitted ones had puddle lights or anything? Would be interested if you could find the link? Cheers ;-)

There isn't a link. The guy I bought my VMR V710's from has an R32. While I was there he showed me a few bits he'd done including MK6 mirrors & the Valeo inner mod. I'll see if I can find his email address.

I thought about having it done on mine. But it's a big job, need to plastic weld the mirror unit onto the base unit, then smooth it all out, but after that it is pretty easy to wire them in the old place.

Can definitely be done
Plush Automotive's Steel Grey Mk5 GTI demo had them on. Why not contact them and ask what work was required?

I bought some last year to try on my Golf but I stupidly deleted the pics to show the difference, the mirror housing where it mounts on the door itself is smaller on the Mk6 ones and all the screw mounting holes are different etc, the plugs themselves are the same but it would take some work getting them to fit.
