Title: Wheel arch rust bubbles
Post by: Rustybear on February 18, 2012, 07:33:36 pm
Norice got some faint rust bubbles coming under the front passenger side front wheel arch, nothing major. On inspection looks like its bee caused by a tint bit of the inner wheel arch plastic coming away leaving a slight gap where water has got in. What are my options? Would this be covered under rust warranty etc??? I'm not that bothered as you can only see on very close inspection, but fully understand best nip this in the bud now to prevent it getting any worse.

Go and visit your local dealer. You have case for a valid warranty claim  :happy2:

Mine is the same - both sides. I want to wait a bit until its a bit worse , then report it , I want new wings , not a repair (plus it will get rid of all the pesky stone chips! - result)

Got new wings on mine under warranty. You also might want to check where the wing meets the sill for signs of corrosion,I had them done aswell under warranty while the wings were off. 55 plate tornado red gti with fvwsh. Good look dude :happy2:

They wouldnt touch mine. Said the warranty doesnt cover rust from an 'edge or seam'. The dealer wouldnt even put in a warranty claim.

Be worth getting in touch with VW Customer services then?

I did... they just told me to consult the dealer. Useless... just gonna pay to get it done on my own and remember never to buy another VW.

I had a similar issue on my S3 and they did it without any questions.

Bad times  :scared: I bet that happens to me as well , I have no luck with stuff like this! I will just get it done myself if I have to but I'd rather get it for nowt! I didnt know the A3/S3 suffered from rust issues as well?

Have you tried a different dealer? If they also say no, get a copy of the anti-corrosion warranty. My girlfriend is a lawyer, I'll ask her to take a look at the wording if you like. They must be trying it on, otherwise why would so many others have had positive results?

Right then. Car gone in (eventually, that was my fault) been told today it needs a complete new wing!!!!!! Now, I am happy in that it will cure the problem but obviously worried about the new paint standing out on a 95k 2006 car. Anyone got experiences of this and if so what did you do?
