So is there an "Epic valvetech system" for a Mk5 GTi. That last one looked like it was a Mk5?
-
Yes the drive over shot is our Golf with the Epic system (valvetech) fitted as a full TBE.
Please feel free to come across for a test drive if your in the area.
Cheers

Difficult to telll from Video, looking forward to 10th march so i can hear it properly as im feeling the need for TBE valvetech, quiet below 3.5krpm and sporty above that sounds right up my street!, have a feeling my bank balance is gonna be taking a hammering in the next 3 months :sad1:

This might be a bit of a difficult thing to do as I'm in hampshire.
If you can offer additional information on this system then that would be most appreciated.
Perhaps in another thread as I don't want to hijack this thread.
Thanks.

No worries - I will be starting a new thread when I have all of the data needed to do a full promotion.
By way of a sweetener...
Firstly I wanted firstly create something new.
However, it still had to fit into the brief of supporting all of my pre requisites for a performance exhaust system, high power potential - great sound - and a classy look.
The use of a 76mm flow valve in a layout ahead of the centre silencer with a diaphragm spring pressure set to work with turbo boost settings of a standard and mapped car was a difficult problem to solve. We have achieved it though by working closely with one of the leading exhaust flow valve manufacturers over a period of six months.
So now when the car is on tick over or under normal low pressure running the valve is in the closed position utilising the full potential for silencing that our huge 12" X 7" centre silencer provides.
However, once the car starts to come on boost, the valve begins to open which allows the gasses to take a more direct route, through a straight through 76mm bore section of the silencer, rendering the silencer redundant.
This leaves the car reliant on just the front silencer. Effectively turning the car into a full on race sounding beast. the good news from a comfort point of view is that when the car is on boost the boom stage has passed - so guess what - no drone!!
In addition power delivery is far more linear at the bottom end as the flow requirement is provided on demand.
The minute the boost comes off - back to a stock sound (Great when cruising).
This as I said makes for an incredibly addictive driving experience, one which simply leaves you with a craving for more wheel time.
Hope this helps.

Just prior to my holiday I went to visit Nige and his business partner (Matt?, sorry im terrible with names!) on 10th March in St Helens as I wanted to hear the valvetech exhaust system they offer. On arrival I was handed a brew whilst the car taken out of the unit and warmed up, as well as both being thoroughly nice chaps I got to have a ride in the demo car!!.
I was after an exhaust that sounded like stock while I was pootling around but at same time a little more sporty when giving it the beans!, after literally 2 mins in the car my mind was made up! :happy2: on idle it was quiet (like stock exhaust if not slightly quieter?) and when giving it some heavy right foot turned into a nice fruity sporty sound (again not too loud to be intrusive or have every old biddie within a mile waving their walking sticks at you!, but a nice sporty deep sound). I was also concered with boomy or droning exhausts and a quick 5 min along a the dual carriageway confirmed that it was neither too loud or boomy, in fact I can report it was nice and quiet off boost and at motorway speeds can confirm that it was neither booming or droning, as I said my mind was made up there and then :happy2:
Talking to the guys left me in no doubt that not only were they knowledgable about exhausts and knew what different customers wanted, they are also passionate about it!.
They explained to me they offer different options in the valvetech so it can be quieter for longer or valve open sooner, but I decided what I needed was just like the demo, told them I would be going back up in Mid/late May to get a TBE Valvetech fitted
Just need to save up the money now :happy2:
Apparently I was the 4th Candy ED30 they had seen down there (although the 1st "More Door" Candy Ed30 they had seen) which made "MAtt" laugh as he had not heard that before :happy2:
-
Thanks Myles
You certainly got the passion bit right bud

Very happy with my system. Alex at AKS commented on the great quality as my car is down there at the moment.
Havent had much chance to enjoy it yet though tbh :sad1:

Still loving mine :drinking:

Will hopefully get car stage 1 mapped in next 2-3 weeks and then save for exhaust and CAI (BCS demo car had a good looking intake system fitted, asked about buying one but not for sale, purely for development (Gutted)
-
this exhaust thing sounds good.. sounds stock but lively when putting put down? I might have to ponder about this, how much are they?
-
The BCS exhausts and service that you get from Nige are second to none in my humble opinion, I got mine through the group buy and was amazed at the quality and sound :happy2:
-
My cars booked in to have a full turbo back exhaust with the new bigger exhaust tips in the next week or so. I properly cant wait now! :notworthy:
-
This valve thing looks like exactly tge sort of exhaust I want.
The only thing is my car will be running higher boost than 90% of other 1.4TSIs, but id still want quiet exhaust note untill 4-4.5krpm

Surely the pressure required to operate the valve can be tuned?

From what I was told, I gathered that were different setting/valves available for opening sooner/later etc so basically diff pressure settings.
