The Mirrors where done in just 2 sections. You cannot spot the join which as this was Racoon Hampshires 1st go at doing mirrors on a mk5 Golf, they were as chuffed as i was with the outcome.

WOW, looks stunning! ive always thought the "full colour" ed30 rear bumper somehow doesnt look right. the black breaks it all up perfectly now, it really does look stunning mate!

....

My turn to say stunning!! Just right.

I'm soooo glad you didn't leave the red rim around the zorst! My heart sank when I first saw that pic!

It's much finer than real carbon and I'd prefer it if real carbon looked like that, but.

:happy2: 8) :happy2:

A bit wet for sleeping outdoors tonight. I hope Raccoon gave you enough spare vinyl to make a tent

Looks ABSOLUTELY great!!! :jumping: The rear is what I need to do, as the previous owner had the whole bumper colour coded which I dont like!
I will google Raccon later!
Did the price include the carbon material or did you have to buy it???

....

I'm not trying to put you off vinyl'd door panels (B-pillars), Phil, but am just wondering how the vinyl will look when handled a lot, as it will be. The piano black stock door 'panels' at least polish up quite easily to lose the natural grease from human hands.

Just something for you to consider and not an opinion about whether you should or shouldn't.

HTH :happy2:

as in any vinyl applications, its removeable and if it does fade from hand contact etc Robin , then if anything it'll protect the gloss underneath from scratch's etc. When i put it on as a test it looked very good and complimented the wing mirrors from a side perspective.  :drinking:

I dunno I quite like the idea of doing half the bonnet, following the lines of the front mask. Like this:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.osirdesign.co.uk%2Fimages%2Fmaskgt5001.jpg&hash=66b85b94f565e39051d522b862b500da261d9e34)

But I'm a bit concerned as to if the edges will begin to peel after a while.
Title: Re: Phylis Wrapped at Racoon Hampshire.

The edges are sealed Pazz on application so that wont happen  :happy2:

a steady hand, but tried different wraps but to cut the wrap to shape in such small letters but pretty much impossible. So to kitchen draw and pull Mr Black Perminant marker. Worked a treat.

I'm tempted to have a word with Riso and tell him not to supply you (just joking). But I'm not joking when I say please don't do the red line around the exhaust cut outs.

Red,

Alright - won't  :happy2:

I've placed $500 desposit on the kit - hope to pay the full amount soon.

Ordering the OSir diffuser from USA website. Got in contact with em, it cost $50 for delv. to UK

http://www.osirusa.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VGTI-DTMGT4-SE&Category_Code=VGTIEB

It worked out the UK prices, its about £200 cheaper from US !!!!! ( thats with delv. on too !! )

Will order this early next week along with the exhaust.

Sooo cant waittt  :driver:

Looks lovely Steve. I especially love the B Pillars! Very novel!

Not sure about cocopops addition to the roof spoiler though. I remember when my vinyl was temporarily taken off and they left that bit of spoiler vinyl on because there was nothing wrong with the alignment, and I kept thinking that it made the car look like a van! (Don't ask, it was just some awkward angles that make it look like that I think)...

....No, don't gild the lilly - It would look too much. Works extremely well on a white car (yours, Chris) but would make Phyllis no longer look oem. At the moment she looks subtley different but still fairly stock unless you look closely.

I do think that solely a black roof still makes the car look OEM, take Matt's for example. But yes you're right I think the contrast between white/black and red/black would look totally different.

I don't think that a black roof is quite Steve's cup of tea, nevertheless I'd love to see it done on a red GTI one day (only roof, not bonnet)!

....Yes, I agree - Candy White takes it very well and both yours and Mat's illustrate this.

If I did my roof, I'd probably use Matte Black as I have various bits of real carbonfibre on the exterior. It's tempting because my rented garage has a drip leak onto my car roof in some weather conditions.

Going to see a powder coating specialist this afternoon to confirm price to darken the alloys. Have a mint condition alloy on standby to start my new project.

Cheers for all the above comments, i dont want to do any more Carbon wrap, too much will ruin the look imo.

Like i said true-blue, it looks better in the flesh whereas the camera angle and light reflection makes it look like you say.

Its easy to remove if it doesnt work well for £30 to have it fitted, its peanuts and didnt cost the earth if it didnt work so to speak. :happy2:

just spoke to this guy in essex.
he is doing a carbon fibre wrap not vinyl
heres a link to driftworks(if allowed to show the detail of the stuff.
http://www.driftworks.com/forum/sjs-design/71654-carbon-wrap.html

this is slightly more expensive(as if we didnt guess) but it has real texture to it to the touch.
he is getting back to me on prices. am hoping to wangle a deal if he thinks he can gain a few new customers from me by getting it done.thinking a few extra big bits hee hee

Last week i saw two ferrari enzos where i work, only saw one R32 so doubt ill come across another one with identical mods

yeah i think that all the cars on here might start to have a constant or current trendy theme to them, which will be more apparant at meets and shows where we all may get together but i reckon there are only 7 gtis in my very local vicinity and none have even lowered theirs let alone carbon or a red splitter.so ours will still jump out as different and individual!! :grouphug:
i have put my carbon plans on hold for 2 months due to spending it all on other mods so roll on july for carbon wrapped mirrors, grill mask and even poss bonnet if stone chips become an issue.
and i love the racoon look that ive seen on this thread and RR's car ... yum!

Hi...

Looks dam good the CF stuff...

How robust is it for outside applications like the door shuts, wing mirrors and front badge.
Could it suffer from stone chips and the like.

Martin,

Vinyl is generally very durable in terms of stone chips  :happy2:

@ Martin,

It's elasticity helps resistance. Sam at Raccoon showed me some marks on his vinyl wrapped BMW and they were merely surface indents which hadn't penetrated right through.

I don't think vinyl will withstand this kind of treatment though : -

If its a Youtube link (I can't see it either) then your company/firewall are probably blocking it like mine do.
