The F'n lids went on a long time ago. Used 3m prep wipes when installed and that stuff kinda melts the H/L lenses, so they need to stay on until I get the dark H/L's I want.
It's back in a new shop and I'm going down there tomorrow and ask for the hood to be all red. I like the all red hood better.
Leaving the roof satin black.
Not going to paint the Forge fmic black this time around either.
Fog grills still need to be opened up, they are new still, and haven't gotten to it yet.
I do have a spare upper grill w/no plate on it. I'll throw that one on when I get the car back for a full shoot.

The bonnet might look a little better if the black went out further as it got back to the windscreen.
(so that the satin black is the full width of the screen)
:happy2:

Don't like the bonnet and prefer gloss black as a contrast with red paintwork.
-
Red bonnet, and you need to DIY your bottom grills again, That is one mod i love on your car, Just a shame i went for genuine open grills
-
Gloss black roof FTW, but not feeling the matt and definitely not the bonnet, sorry buddy. :sad1:
-
I agree on the bonnet. When comparing the two pics together, I prefer the all red, before look as well.
I'm going to the shop in the morning and take another look at it before I make a final decision.
Thanks for the opinions :happy2:
-
I'd leave bonnet red. Not keen on bonnet vinyls. Rest looks good though :happy2:
-
The first pic looks very clean and uncluttered! Thats the one for me! :happy2:
Do you know how much one of your front number plate holders would be from the dealer?
-
lose the bonnet stripe and get rid of the eyebrows as it would look loads cleaner
-
i like the vw badge, can you buy them like that? or spray job?
-
to me personally your gloss front end in your sig looks the best
but who cares what we think? do what you prefer - it's your car
-
Top pic for me. Also like your open lower grills- where are theses from as not seen them ( normal it's a rectangle shape missing)

It is satin paint, but yeah, the nose looks completely different with the black, right?

TMTuning used to sell them in whatever color you wanted. I bought my 1st one for $80usd. Then I painted the other two that I have myself. After removing the badge from the grill, the chrome VW can be carefully pried off the black back. Spray the colors that you want and put back together. If any connecting teeth were damaged when taking them apart, just use small amounts of a strong adhesive near those points between the two parts before putting them together. I also recommend if you use black on the chrome VW, to go over the black, when dried, again with black plasti-dip. It resists chips very well.

Red bonnet for me too. :happy2: I also personally hate lamin-x yellow tinted fogs. Think it makes it look like a cheap sh*tty frog mobile. :rolleye:

Did them myself. I had made a small center marking template with a tiny center hole in it which I used to mark the center of each H-comb section to go back with a 3/4" bit once they were all marked. The bit has a longer center tooth so that was placed on my center marks at the beginning of each drilled spot. It worked well leaving clean edges due to their two outer points/cutting teeth. But had to have wooden backing - end of a 4x4 worked for me.
Bit type used; http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CKMBEPICMAM

Std look for me :happy2:, peel all that crap off :P, but I do prefer a stealth car anyway
-
:drinking: Thanks for all of the input. I was seeing the same thing. Loved the all red bonnet much more than the blk. ctr. when comparing these two photos. :happy2:
So I went to the shop this morning and told them to spray all of the bonnet Red and leave the roof satin black.
I'll open the fog grills when it is returned and then take some new pics.

Black gloss on grill surround and black gloss roof. Have you considered black gloss wing mirrors as well?
Back to red on the bonnet for me as well. Oh, and I'd lose the eyebrows.
Like the red in the vw badge though.

No, the black gloss doesn't fly well here(US). I'd get flamed hard for doing gloss blk..
Eyelids need to stay on due to adhesive until I get these;

Thanks, I love the red/blk badge too. That always worked on this one.

I think you are right about the matt black being better than gloss.
I love this oneā¦.

I've heard some bad on those dark H/L's I was considering so likely staying with oem's.
