Need to ask a theoretical question...
only you are in your car at night, your keys stay in the ignition with the engine running, you need to open the drivers door to say pick something up from the pavement, would you care if all of the the interior lights didn't come on for say 20 secs
if you remove your keys it still comes on as normal
if you open the passenger door it still comes on as normal
if you use the switch it still works as normal
cheers guys

Your right. pretty pointless. :signLOL:

Not sure what the point is of asking an identical pointless question over on R32OC?
-
Jesus what is it about this forum. You really do live upto your reputation of being quite unhelpful, its a simple question with a don't care / would care answer, it actually has got a point which I don't want to go into yet. So instead of posting the things above perhaps you could actually just answer.

I would expect for all the interior lights to come on as soon as you open the door. Not sure why you would want a 20 second delay.
-
Let me restore your faith in the helpfulness of this forum (which I've always found to be fantastic, BTW):
I'd find it irritating if the interior lights didn't come on.
-
Now you can put teddy back in the pram.
-
Can you tell us why you have asked now? lol
-
Believe me it wouldn't be teddies in my pram!!
ok so here is the reason, when you remove the key from the ignition and don't open any doors, the windows, mirrors and sunroof still work, but as soon as you open any doors (i just thought drivers door but testing last night its both) they stop functioning, now i know there is auto closing of the windows and sunroof...but not the mirror fold, by having a 20 sec delay on the door switch only when ignition is switched off (remember as soon as you remove your key the lights would come on anyway, so doesn't matter about the door switch for that period) you could pulse the mirror fold switch from the locking via a latching relay and as long as its within 20 secs the mirrors would fold with the locking of the car.
so there you have it.

I'm gonna go have to check this out tonight but I'm sure my interior lights come on at night when the doors open irrespective of whether the engine is running or not and whether the key is in the car or not.
Wouldn't be bothered if it was how the car normally behaved but would be miffed if it was just my car that was affected.

your right thats how they would normally work, but i want to short out the door switch built into the locking mechanism for 20 secs when leaving the car so this would not bring on the lights, but removing the key from the ignition does it for you automatically regardless of day or night.

Just checked mine and the interior lights come on as soon as the door is opened.

Could you not do this with vcds ?
