Had a set of Hankook V12 Ventus (also listed as EVO) on my Polo GTI last week and i must admit im quite impressed. I wasnt expecting masses due to the price tag having run Dunlop Sport Maxx's, Pirelli P Zero Nero's and recently Goodyear F1 Eagles...
Why: Because 225bhp through the front tyres of a Polo means I get through alot
Sourcing: I found that www.camskill.co.uk offered the most competitive price however my local Dexel branch matched the price which included fitting and balancing.
Other versions: for the 205/45/16 alloys I currently run there is a big price gap between some pretty unknown brand tyres and the more "house hold" brands we all know and love (Conti, Yoko's, Toyo's etc etc) As for a like for like comparison the closest I found that could be considered a comparison at the time listed on Camskill were Toyo Proxes but still £15 a corner dearer. Arguably a better tyre but potentially a softer compound?
Plus Points: Initially price. However as driving has discovered a good, composed, comfortable tyre that gives me the same cornering confidence I gained when using any of the previously mentioned tyres. Tread Pattern isnt too bad either.
Minus Points: I imagine that time will show me more of a clear difference between this tyre and a premium brand tyre however current performance hasnt revealed any negatives for me.
Summary: Very pleased with the results especially with the price tag.
Would be interested to know if anyone else has had or has Hankooks?
Apologies for the massive image... :surprised:

Sell loads of the v12 and.they are a good tyre

Saying i like these tyres is hardly a review is it.

Im pleased to hear it. Having always been told dont skimp on tyres you feel the only way you'll get quality is to spend a fortune im just pleased that i seem to have picked up a decent tyre for a decent price. Im not saying that these are as good as some of the top brands but a good cheaper alternative

Well in a word...no...but I am giving it a positive review. Feel free to move this post :sad1: apologies

Sorry mate. Your actual review is much better. I have run some Hankook Icebears as my winters which I have just taken off. To be honest I don't think they are too bad.
On a £ per performance ratio I think they are up there. :happy2:

they came 2nd didn't they in the evo tyre test behing the conti and just above the goodyear
-
Not a bad tyre but wears quickly and is poor in the wet.

It was the Hankook S1 Evo that came second in the 2012 EVO tyre test not the V12 unfortunately. The S1 Evo is available in the rare 205/45 R16 size but are harder to find than the V12.

This 'updated' review looks good to me. Good to see a proper pic! as it's a bit useless to have a review if you can't see what your talking about.
My old man had them on a 2.7tdi A6 and they grilled well and managed with the weight of that thing, although can't comment on wear as it's since been sold

I ran a set of these on a Megane 225 sport I bought and thought they were fantastic for the money - Just as good as the Conti sport contact 3's i then ran on my BMW but at least 1/2 the price!!

Ive had 2 sets of these on a previous car and put them on the gf's car when she got nicer wheels (dotz exile 18s) Find them very grippy, maybe not just as good in the wet as say bridgestones or toyos, but better road noise and feel. Im no expert, just my humble opinion
