I have been using this site for the last year but only joined today as i need help.
I have snapped the sensor off the top of my fuel pump (due to a loose engine cover), the car is now in limp mode. VW want £156+Vat (£almost £200 with extra parts required as fuel pump has changed) Does anyone know anywhere that I can buy just the sensor and part number, VW only sell as complete unit.
I have a 56 GTI manual.
Thanks in advance

Ive got a complete fuel pump what your part number mate?
-
The numbers on top of the sensor are 06f 127 025 F.......... HFS853-102A
Not sure what one is the part number.
What type of condition is it in.

Shamless plug, i've got one in the for sale section :innocent:

Had a look at the pic and the numbers seem different on your one, what number are on top, what make and model is it from.
-
I'll pop out to the shed and get the part number :happy2:
Came off my 2008 GTI.
-
Mines 06F 127 025 H which means its the newer revision the same as you would get from the dealers
IIRC you can't get a spare sensor you have to buy the complete unit
I think i read the extra parts they are talking about are in relation to how the fuel pipe fit to the bottom of the pump
as this was changed slightly,(remember something about banjo bolts) but don't quote me on that :happy2: HTH
EDIT: just checked ETKA and there is a "K" revision
-
^That^ is true.
You actually do need to buy the complete pump to get one of those ;(
-
Would your sesnor be the same? So would it be possible just to remove the sensor and keep the pump in place?
Thanks for all the help.
-
It's possible but make sure you pull the fuse or disconnect the electrical connections from it. Next unscrew the little black cap on the bottom and push in the valve to let the pressure out, use a rag to catch the fuel. When you take it off be very careful not to lose the washers inside and align the top connector as it was or you'll snap another with the top cover.

Thanks, think it might be safer getting one from the dealers, unless someone has one with the same part numbers. my wee bro is a mech at honda so he is going to replace it when im offshore (keeps telling to buy a Honda) im sure i saw step by step on how to change the pump on here.
-
^^^^^ as far as i know the sensor will be the same, the difference in the pump revisions as said before is the pipe fittings :happy2:
someone please correct me if wrong :innocent:

Those sensors cause lots of people to buy a brand new pump, as they are often broken when shipped for rebuild and improperly protected. When APR receives them that way your only choice is buying a brand new one due to not being sold separately. Some have gotten quite angry over this ;{ but nothing can be done when it is too late. I do not understand why they are not having the shipping insurance cover the replacement though.

Got the parts today with new rubber engine cover mounts and oil cap. My brother is just going to change the sensor and leave the fuel pump in place (as he cant be assed and i wont have to give him any $)
Then when i get back onshore time to change the DV valve.
Thanks alot for all the help and information.
-
what's wrong with the dv you have on it?
-
Im guessing i still have the revC and for what i have heard its better to have the rev D piston type, cheap and easy to do.
