Title: My No Machine Detail
Post by: Deako on March 03, 2012, 06:13:08 pm
Went to visit Nathan @ DMR this afternoon. The car was immaculately clean before i left, but when i got there.....well, Nathan can tell you but it was totally minging. When i got back home, it was even worse. Especially after my spirited drive down the country roads back to the A45.

Nathan, worth warning people about mud on the roads on the way down from the A45.  :surprised: Lets just say, i was practically drifting around one corner.

Anyway, got home and decided to clean the car again. Couldnt leave it looking like that could i?

So got the jetwash and gear out again, and managed to give it a spruce up.

1. Snow Foamed (Still using last of my Autoperfection snow foam. Foams ok, but doesnt really "lift" any grime.)
2. Washed with Auto Finesse Lather. (I had also used Rejuvenate on the paintwork last Wednesday).
3. Sealed with Menzerna Power Lock (2nd coat on now, water beads up lovely).
4. Tyres treated with Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel.

It now looks as it should. It rained again after i had finished, but then the sun came out, so i could dry the car off again.

Excuse the mark on the wheel in this pic. Was on the wheel when we got it. :( Ive now checked this against the dealership high res pics, and it can be seen.

Car will be being treated to a 1 day enhancement by DMR in the coming weeks.

These are also the last pics of the car standard. Next week it is getting the H&R Springs and Porka brake setup fitted.  :jumpmove:

This is a beading pic after just 1 coat. Not bad considering the car had NO protection on the paintwork at all when i got it from Birmingham VW. Water just hung onto the panels.

Yeh the roads can get a bit cruddy, but I think with the comparative lack of rain we've had this winter everywhere gets a bit messy when the heavens open!

Looks good Luke, looking forward to making her look even better!!

Cant wait for it to be swirl free as well. Also the amount of fallout on the paint is a joke. Tar spots and iron filings.  :sad1:

To be honest, ill probably have ordered some tardis and iron x and taken to them before you get it, as it paints me to look at them.

Looks great. I do love Powerlock - just very easy to use and buff.

Slowly, I'm moving more towards sealants than waxes.

I think I'll PowerLock the car for Spring.

Cheers Jaz. Its so easy to use. As soon as you start to buff it off, the paintwork just feels silky smooth. Much easier work with than applying a hard wax.

I had been using SN Hybrid, which also leaves a great finish, but is much more hard work.

I loved powerlock when I used it last autumn. The R222 needed a top up every two weeks!
