Title: AMD Woking - No Rolling Road - Would you give it a swerve?
Post by: Mk5 GTian on March 05, 2012, 05:48:31 pm

I'm about to get my Stage 1 done with a new DV V4, but I've spoken to Simon at AMD Woking, and they have no rolling road. They data-log the map, (whatever that means). He said it's because theres less stress on the clutch etc, but i can't help but think it's because they're under-equipped.

I'm considering JKM in Portsmouth who charge 642 including Vat for a Revo Stage 1 & New DV, or:

Shark Performance who will do their Stage 1 on a rolling road with new DV for 485 all in, or:

Is it ok to do remapping as AMD Woking propose?

What would you do?

Quite normal.
I'd be worried if they didn't do the logs after a Map.

Its the quality of the actual development map thats more important than the car being dyno tested. Dyno testing is great as it allows you to tune the car in a controlled static environment and accurately compare before/after power and torque curves but a dyno test alone does not equal a good map!

If you fancy a drive we include dyno testing with all of our own maps at no extra cost, only £299 to forum members (shameless tout for business  :surprised: )

Had some good advice from you about this, and I would deffinately get you guys to do it if you were quite a bit closer, but Newcastle is a bit too far, as I'm in Surrey. I really want to be able to get before and after figures as you describe, so I guess I need to find somewhere that has this facility AND a well developed map. Thanks again for the advice.  :happy2:

Is Reading too far for you?

Reading is no problem! I thought you were in Tyne & Wear?

Many tuners use us to create their software

Have sent Tim (our guy in Reading) an email to see if he is ok for me to pass on his detais to you by PM. He works as a dyno operator/software tuner for a well known vag specialist.

Brilliant, thanks a lot Dave.  :happy2:

If he is ok with it, I'll deffinately use you through him. Can he change my DV to R4 as well?

If that doesn't work out, AMD in Essex have an RR and they have mapped two of my cars.  I'm in Surrey and they are about 30 mins away from me, although Surrey is a big county!!

Why not take it down to R tech for a proper custom remap for a fraction of the price! Not far from you either

No worries, thought this was an old thread!

Well put it this way, I had my old Shadow blue done at Storm Developments in Aldermaston, and it was so good that when I changed to a Laser blue I went back for seconds. Brilliant service, they really know their way around modified and forced induction VAG. I've started using them for everything now, and they are planning my Stage 2 at a much lower cost than I had planned.

Ring 01189 810 963 and ask for Alex for mechanical and Tim or Andy for mapping. Can't go wrong. Dave at PDT put me onto them.

Thanks for that.

Anyone else had experience with a Storm remap?
