Wow that is one RED  lip you have there!  :happy2:

Interior mod? How about a brushed aluminium ashtray lid? Really brightens that area up a treat!  :happy2:

Nice GTi !

I'm not a huge fan of black and red rims.

I like the black badge at the front though  :happy2:

Looks good matey, I think I preferred it when the lip had a red pinstripe round the edge rather than the whole dish being red  :happy2:

Lovely motor. The red rim reminds me of the R-gt that was made as a design car a year or so ago. Lovely :happy2:

I'd get some smoked indicators for the wing mirrors.  Would finish the red/black look off nicely.
Title: Re: Scarpicus TR-GTI
Post by: scarpicus on May 08, 2009, 11:12:36 am
good idea

Any ideas where i could get them veedub for a good price,

also do u think if i put a light tint on the indicators that would be cheaper option and would that work

also what about do u think about putting gun smoke lamin-x on headlights.

also i took red centre caps from wheels, do u think it looks better or not
Title: Re: Scarpicus TR-GTI
Post by: joesgti on May 08, 2009, 12:00:38 pm
the wheels look smart  :happy2: they just look too small and fat for some reason?
Title: Re: Scarpicus TR-GTI
Post by: scarpicus on May 08, 2009, 05:13:30 pm
It could be because im not low enough
and the offset of wheels are 40 so the wheels are flush with arches and as a result you see all of the sidewall of tyres.

I want to go lower and swap my eibach prokit springs for h&r sport springs but i think i tyres will catch the arches.

This is a front view..
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi364.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Foo81%2Fscarpicus%2FDSC02871.jpg&hash=d4057ffab6e557415efe7d3c38896ca794d1451e)

do u think i will be ok if i put h&R sport springs or will i have to stretch tyres like americans do
i have 225/40/18 falkens on at the moment but if i put 215/40/18 will i get any stretch and also if i do the inside screw mod will i have enough clearence.

sorry for long post :happy2:

Hi everyone

Just had Bonnet Roof and Spoiler vinyl wrapped Gloss black (I know everyone is doing Matt black but i prefered gloss) at
Totally dynamic in north london Enfield. They done a very good job and the Boss and the lads working there are very friendly and professional and i would definitely recommend them to any of you looking to get this done. :drinking:

Title: Re: Scarpicus TR-GTI (Vinyl Wrap)

Haha i don't mind at all! I think its a great look for the GTI   And certainly Tornado Red is a colour that suits the vinyl design.

Yeah mine has held up perfectly, I've got one stone chip which has unfortunately gone all the way through the vinyl - so now you can see a little white spec where the paint is coming through, but other than that it is perfect  :happy2:

Very US style!

I think I would do the following to finish off the exterior looks..

Get some FK coils and SLAM it to the max
Get a Votex front splitter and have the centre section painted gloss black and outside TR
R32 skirts colour coded
ED30 rear bumper with diffuser section gloss black
Black mirrors

Think that would really finish it off!!

nice job fella. I was intending on getting a red golf, but didn't at the time and ended up with grey, but i'm happy with it.
I've been umming and ahhing about the black bonnet section, but still not sure on doing it on mine. The roof yes, just not sure on bonnet. Suppose I should, then just strip it off if I don't like it. Oh well!! lol
Not sure on the fog grills, but each to their own.
Maybe get the skirts and mirrors in gloss black too?

You could always just do the roof first than decide after if you want the bonnet.... :happy2:

I'v got gloss black mirror covers already but just ben too lazy to put them on...... :sleepy:

Yeah i think When i lower the car more the wheels will look a lot better, saving up for coilovers but going on holiday end of june and just had four year service and brake fluid service at http://www.rac-london.co.uk/  so cash LOOOOOOWWWWW at moment.....

I think the front grills would look better if you had them filled and smoothed to get rid of the honeycomb?

Thats an interesting idea never thought of that..... :drinking:

BUT after speaking to all my friends they all said...everyone of them that it looked better with black fog cover grills so i think i will go back to that...... :signIWS:

so I guess all you guys were right..... :P :P :P

but i will diffenently look in to how to get rid of honeycomb on fog covers as i think as jaywoo-gti said it would probably look better.

I think the grilles would look better if they were filled in, rather than left as they are. Smoothing over that whole bit could give a fantastic look.

I'm not the best person to ask. Ask a bodyshop?

You may be able to fill it in yourself using a proper car body filler, primer and paint.

....

Not really a solution if you are trying to save money! But : -

Or, you could get the cheaper fibreglass versions and black vinyl wrap them to match your bonnet and roof.

I think it's a much wiser decision to sort your suspension and handling before cosmetics.

How much? - I honestly can't remember but nothing carbonfibre or from OSIR is cheap.

Yeah if i could turn back clock 6 or 7 months i would difinently sort out the stance of the car first and get coilovers instead of shocks and springs

hi mate,

car is looking very nice, not so keen on the fog cover tho.

how about open fog grills with the open duct area behing the honeycomb red?

may look a bit more subtle and still look good !

just a thought :)

The splitter looks sooooo much better in person its probably my favourite part of the car now.

I decided to go all red instead of lower half black as i think you would lose some of the detail of the spliter

Make the red fins stand out even more too!

EDIT: PS, love the front splitter BTW  And I'll deffo sort that front grille out for you!  :happy2:

I first planned on having lower lip black as i have a seen quite a few photos from the american gti forums with votex spliter colour coded with black lip...
but i think the pictures i have seen of votex lip all colour coded makes the front of the car look abit lower and makes the lip stand out more

As some of you know from a thread in general area of the forum i had moved my plate to the side of the car due to getting a US style smooth grill and not wanting to ruin it, but due to not being completly happy with the positioning of it and not finding a good alternative i decied to make a magnetic grill Top Cat style (who gave me really good tips and is the man to pm if you need advice) as atleast i can quickly remove it if i want to take some pics......

i ordered these :Circular Disc Magnets
EP336 20mm dia x 5mmA N42 - NiCuNi plated Pack of 10 Magnets

from: http://e-magnetsuk.com/

and the glue i used
