Title: Upgrading calipers on 312mm discs
Post by: martziniuk on March 07, 2012, 12:21:42 pm
What options are there for upgrading the calipers on standard 312mm discs. Before you all say R32 setup I want it to stay light as I don't fancy running round with all that extra weight.
They also need to fit under 17" wheels  :surprised:

The Porsche boxster NQSBBK will work on 312 discs, but you will need a small spacer for 17" monzas, the calipers are also lighter than the stanadrd steel ones as they are a single Aluminium block and 4 pot as supposed to 1.  Lots of info about on the site.

The best person to speak to would be dave b as he is somewhat the resident brake guru on here. As mentioned above there is quite an in depth thread about the porsche nqsbbk on here. The search function is your friend :happy2:

I have been in contact with Dave regarding the 320mm A4 2.0t brakes :happy2: I thought I'd start a thread though.
I'll try another search.

Martin, read and enjoy - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,13985.0.html

I know you are not interested in the R32/S3 for weight reasons, but honestly I haven't noticed the difference apart from the fact they stop on a six pence!!  I did weigh everything before fitting and it's only a difference of approx' 5-6kg per corner.  :happy2:

How did you contact Dave mate?  I've dropped him a few PM's but not heard anything, he has my rear calipers for refurbing.....  :sad1:
