For the past couple of weeks i have noticed that when pulling away from a junction on a steep incline i get a judder that feels like a slight wheel spin. The car was have a brake fluid change and aircon regas at a local VW garage (Peter Cooper - Shirley) today and i asked them to check it out and they are confident it is terminal Dual Mass Flywheel. The Clutch biting point has been point with no slip what so ever but the DMF has been noisy since i bought the car 18 months ago.
As it looks like i am going to have to bite the bullet and let the mouths out i need to find a decent garage in the Winchester to fit a new DMF and Clutch. I have started using a local Skoda garage for servicing but they want Dick Turpin money of £1200 so they are out of the question.
So far the best quote i have had is £680 (Best Autos) which although is pretty good i would like lower.
Any garage recommendations for the Winchester/Southampton area would be very much appreciated.

Get a price from Jim at IGS in Eastleigh (ex Peter Cooper mechanic from well before it was Peter Cooper, and does a lot of race prep) and Steve Monk in North Baddesly, then go back to Peter Cooper with those quotes, they will normally price match those two. They are both good VW Indies anyway, so you have plenty of choice. :happy2:
Regal in Swaythling know all about Golf's, but are probably quite pricey, but it could be worth giving them a call too.

I've heard Independent VW Servicing in Chandlers Ford are quite good although I've not used them myself. Like others have said, you can try JKM. Also might be worth a pm to Ryan (username 'stanton') at Regal in Swaythling.
