Title: HOW TO:- Fit a Skoda 1Z0 035 729B bluetooth kit (lots of pictures)
Post by: smokey on March 10, 2012, 10:02:15 pm
Hiya Guys

Well today I tackled the fitting of my new Bluetooth kit (Thanks to Eddie-NL for the purchase)

I thought I would do a guide as there are some around but not for fitting to a mk5 golf.

So here we go....

First off a box full of parts

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe4d1c281.jpg&hash=5cc8bab390db38552102cdcb440d5df56c7b332d)

Then by moving the front seat forward there are some pre cut squares which need to be removed (dont you just love working on VW's!!)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F82be3f33.jpg&hash=eb85ec0ae261791e161052fba9cf7fac297e21af)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F146e47af.jpg&hash=088913b02b50834606ab4a95dc377911fb50d997)

Then opposite there is a large section which is also pre cut. No need to fully remove as the wiring loom is all that's needed to fit through here.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F639b225b.jpg&hash=e16ff1248ee30c6680fcb6bee04f0a3ddd1f176e)

There are two black plastic inserts which fit into the holes which have no been exposed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ff7b0d2d8.jpg&hash=c7e1edb79ff8f8a4fddd611dd25dcfc5d5742b87)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F4127d0ad.jpg&hash=d71d4d982f52bf624c562c07d0ed5d2dbf0abc9b)

Next job was to lift up the plastic trim which runs along the door so the the new loom can be run down the side, with the other looms.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fbf0ffaba.jpg&hash=405c590c5cda273541d761df662eec9ae85f1de2)

Next job was to remove the plastic trim in the foot well where the boot release handle is. Took a few mins but realised there is a black plastic clip which needs to be pushed out to release the handle.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F0b55e84b.jpg&hash=dcd89c5f4054836227043ea8363a86016b67783e)

Once the handle is removed there is a small black plastic cap and screw which needs to be removed.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F55e4b47c.jpg&hash=cd8542d59900982c036ee16b116df664b0b83d0c)

Once both removed the plastic trim can be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ff00b439f.jpg&hash=a943787dd750eef8fee40ed8a58ccc0d911f01c9)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ffdedc2b3.jpg&hash=6fe424cf861c8046f8de3948b874ccf2685a665f)

Now with the plastic trim removed the carpet and underlay can be lifted up exposing the other loom wires which are there

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F662f9e20.jpg&hash=1e4f1bb3a4b9e4e39992b7e9234a9d5fb7f97cd9)

Now you need to start putting the new bluetooth loom in place, to make this easier i removed the large black plastic housing so that it was easier to slip underneath the carpet.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F2a082d52.jpg&hash=1dc3b312e820c0ca13ae7e348d1fcad365a19ca0)

It quite a tight fit but it is possible to slide the loom underneath the carpet over to the large cut out where the Bluetooth unit will be fitted

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F34408cb8.jpg&hash=6b26b023fb89cf72a0946666627b410361d7ddb6)

Then the plastic housing was refitted

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F6ae41944.jpg&hash=306ea04784368cd86f7e788d845cc8f3291091f9)

The loom was then fitted along  the floor and along the side of the car (plus a hoover of the carpet :happy2:)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ffd8845b2.jpg&hash=dec4ba63f3c8e076a0c07cca24b12c214b105084)

The next step was then to remove the plastic trim on the side of the dashboard exposing the fuse board

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F49ba0b89.jpg&hash=2765f297f4f3256ef0d93795f338421bf7943cf7)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F24efae1d.jpg&hash=faa93c1b850c8b9ff8b367308e1b6540a2729170)

The next job is to remove the trim on the A pillar, this does have a hidden screw underneath the "Airbag" badge which can be missed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F47840f71.jpg&hash=e419e7a30783a2fd168d087305c9d17eb3fcaa87)

Once that screw is removed the trim pulls off, there are 3 clips holding it in place

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F3e44d39a.jpg&hash=6ae6254eeb40aea77898a0a9991876bcdd10a85b)

To make fitting the mic cable the vanity light and grab handles need to be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fd15ccf7c.jpg&hash=e4e5e429bc4c09bbab221b923bf23ea69521ee24)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fd8f37a8e.jpg&hash=3f4c8eac0a4b2774427a43644c5a9dc9901d98e0)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F1b1c6324.jpg&hash=4d4c684b2b2561d15f0c17c7044e9d33a8eff555)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fd1803904.jpg&hash=329ce3c35f111f78eebf56ea1228b3e5352d149e)

Then to get into the central overhead console the sunglasses holder needs to be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F7e9c17b4.jpg&hash=aa232b284255b9a29ab0a318f2491e7a58c608eb)

Then with that out of the way the grill can be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F18fe22b1.jpg&hash=dcf489c1bbd153499ca0bb3d7cf4cb84887f98dc)

Which then exposes two screws which need to be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F4fd8c037.jpg&hash=971567fa08b7b0f041c7a40687faa1b1db272d60)

Once removed the main section can be removed

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fbaead855.jpg&hash=759a3b01be1a3af923ad889ca55aef0d812f3a41)

There is a piece of foam in place where the mic would be, which is simply pulled out.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F8a1c9bac.jpg&hash=df2fc4268fed868892283c83e4f19c227e627a75)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F38667d2d.jpg&hash=9988f4ac16186f4990b77363d077f660e822ad92)

Then the mic can be fitted

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F6df0aaa1.jpg&hash=696a694732a7b28013737cec32d8fea3a61718d0)

Also good chance to clean the plastic for the lights, mine was quite grubby and a few small dead flies in there!!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F825aa849.jpg&hash=cdd8a044f462023cf6da6058903a9e6b51452101)

Now need to route the mic cable

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fefa2652c.jpg&hash=78b279f7f5eebccacd25cde8e305cb331a8c13ec)

Found the best way was to route it from the side of the car to where the vanity light would be

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fee8d3b77.jpg&hash=638b93182f114cdb68fe327050d44ae9a5695d8a)

This can then be pulled down to follow the A pillar

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F9feabbc5.jpg&hash=c0d464b42cf94762018b8758c372d15fdf4819b3)

Then from where the vanity light to where the central overhead console is, Didn't need any wire or something similar, as the cable is quite stiff can be pushed through on its own.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F9c28a2be.jpg&hash=d0d0e4bbf5eba0347db77e97f9c616ecfb54bca1)

Now just need to connect the mic cable to the mic and refit the light unit

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F9704877a.jpg&hash=bb01511d47181d0251654d4f599c2a68adaaa752)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ff95d4ed5.jpg&hash=e5431ade161da03487724e734ab0897b016af520)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe8d5b617.jpg&hash=41696d32f3ebe06e68963c497cf459ac47e5cb58)

Then to cable tie the mic cable in place

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F7fc43459.jpg&hash=5ef57329c855671300f36ce11417db6211db7c2d)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F33ba8b3e.jpg&hash=850b79c82bc6c0c3128c9d4fea8a9aa4ae856c8e)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe0226307.jpg&hash=69dbbef5adc72e092a9633f435fdb6b5ff4dd9cc)

Now need to get the bluetooth loom and mic cable to the RNS-510, so decided to do this by running it along the footwell, so unscrewed the cover and placed along the bottom. There is just enough clearance to get the end with the big plugs through and to the back of the RNS.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F0b71f6d7.jpg&hash=64b308fff4303c3e3ada4aced10b6c936975c169)

No to take out the RNS-510

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fac860fdd.jpg&hash=9f01f75b77c4a7dbf8d75819ec2d0f452d565cf3)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F80da17a0.jpg&hash=6d3ca900c0e7f72b7b1a43bb64f6c6d812015b86)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F52b86468.jpg&hash=cfed6873cddcc22e82565b8771d8d88d0fff83d5)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ff6fe84f0.jpg&hash=7b4df5e7e048f51b08e3a37c9486c1b1a56ab782)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F8119447a.jpg&hash=ab3e24770b73096d1cb33612d872f8769adb5bdb)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F6534389b.jpg&hash=794bf820e356cb0515ade1ec9b291bfe439857e6)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe87449f9.jpg&hash=6f886b3859cb5ee92c3b68ed2da85dd890cfe7fa)

With the RNS removed you can get your hand down the back to the two large plugs on the end of the bluetooth loom and pull it through

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe1c37b3f.jpg&hash=76569b019321593de7e4502f26bbc6ee8f671e32)

With this plug and play loom you just need to simply plug it into the existing plug and then the new plug on the bluetooth loom plugs into the RNS

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F26e779d7.jpg&hash=4b6fc85cc829cebce02bb65126b514a466a4cab2)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F4e455e7d.jpg&hash=47ad2d4166074fdefb509435502564e12d32067a)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F4e49a530.jpg&hash=fc7256a6af63614259bf4cfec1d5c55e3a713093)

Then need to put everything back together

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F9b9d0a54.jpg&hash=722c8faeb745ebc1b335e2f6facf6244b48453eb)

Now need to attach the bluetooth antenna to the unit and fit it into place

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Ffcf8c007.jpg&hash=386f6c8c46a0cc7f3838658e02fde341df6a58b7)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F2c348174.jpg&hash=26dfa4394cbf2bee8e927ca894f9d9899287acce)

Fit the cover over the top

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2Fe7195b5d.jpg&hash=1fdf12bbd8acce61f78d64114234dd64f1ca70c8)

Now its time to code the unit in via VCDS. All that needs to be done is to select Telephone in the Gateway section. (number 77)
Now there should be a new Telephone button which is now available, the codeing should be set, but in here you can change the pin code for the bluetooth, default is 1234. You can also tell the unit if you have MFSW etc.

Then turn on the unit and turn on bluetooth on your phone, my iPhone 4S only took 30 seconds to find the cars bluetooth and pair.

You now have full acces to your phonebook and missed calls and recieved calls. I was really surprised how much info there was and that it was all on the RNS  :happy2:

I did think there was an option to see your text messages on there too, but can't see anything?!!

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGregshawdj%2FBluetooth_fitting%2F2d3508a1.jpg&hash=458bfb80033ee623584a8914d69a4ea0632e6663)

Very nice guide.

A couple of observations from fitting quite a few of these myself (including one today )  My personal preference is to run the cable behind the dash clocks so to be well clear of the steering column and I also remove the lower right knee panel to get better access.  I don't think you need to remove the sunglass holder or the sun visor lamp.  That's just my preference and of course doesn't make your method any less suitable.

I don't think you'll see text messages on a 729B and certainly not with an iPhone as it isn't rSAP.

There is a sticker on the bottom of the carpet section and the codes on it are:

ZM4

1Z0 971 813 621

Hopefully one of those is it

Very nice guide.

A couple of observations from fitting quite a few of these myself (including one today )  My personal preference is to run the cable behind the dash clocks so to be well clear of the steering column and I also remove the lower right knee panel to get better access.  I don't think you need to remove the sunglass holder or the sun visor lamp.  That's just my preference and of course doesn't make your method any less suitable.

I don't think you'll see text messages on a 729B and certainly not with an iPhone as it isn't rSAP.

I also run the loom behind the clocks, and I manage to feed the loom behind the bonnet release trim without taking it off by pulling on the edge where it meets the door rubber.

No messages with the 729B
I went back to a 5N0 version as I have upgrade my clocks, and it will do text messages in the highline

Taking the RNS out of the question, but can i ask how much the kit is in total?

depends, new they are more expensive than they were from the dealer. (the kit used here was my one that I had in my car and I sold it in the for sale section)

729B kit £200+ highest I have seen is £379 on ebay
5N0 less due to limited phone compatibility
7P6 kits are good £180 - £280

729B = (Displays in Highline  + RNS/RCD510) (All Phones) Doesn't work with phone button on MFSW and is Expensive
5N0 = (you must have a Highline and not an early one or you will be trapped in the phone menu. I tried this on a car with 972 cluster and mk6 wheel and was trapped. Works great if you have a working menu button. Displays on Highline + RNS, text messages in highline too and phone button works. very limited on phones that work with it
7P6 = (doesn't display in Highline) but works with RCD510 + RNS510, plays audio from your phone, Phone button works on mfsw and works with all phones

Yep, I'm thinking the 5N0 kit is the one I want, providing my phone is compatible. Texts in high line, uses phone button. I have the 974 cluster too.
This unit has limited phone compatibility... how do we know which phones it will work with? I have Android, HTC desire.

What is the part number for the cloth cover?
I have searched and found 1Z0 971 813 62U, but not sure if that is the plastic cover?

Eddie, do you know?

I read in another thread, it will work with red mfd as long as its high line so you can enter the code for the phone.

I've been trying to research into the best bluetooth for my car but have no idea what to go for.

I have a 2010 Scirocco R with RNS510 factory fitted with the white dot highline display, it has voice recognition so i'm assuming the mic is in place?!

I want a bluetooth kit that is compatible with iphone and can play bluetooth audio. Any ideas on how to get a bluetooth box which ticks all the boxes? (looking below I dont think you can have it all?)

Anyways, if anyone has any advice or can point me in the direction of a good kit let me know.

Cheers
Barry

I didn't have a working menu button with my old cluster and I would be trapped in the phone menu

Did the really early cars have different steering wheel buttons or something or is it if you don't have mfsw you didn't have a menu button
Title: Re: HOW TO:- Fit a Skoda 1Z0 035 729B bluetooth kit (lots of pictures)
Post by: Eddie-NL on June 10, 2012, 02:31:06 pm
early cars operated the menu by the stalk

so any highline 970 or 971 didn't support the menu button

If you fit a mk6 wheel the up button would allow you to access the menu.
I fitted a Mk6 wheel into a car that had a 972 cluster and that also didn't work with the 5N0 kit and got stuck in the phone menu. (although with a mk5 wheel it was ok)

I now have a 974 cluster which only supports the menu button. and it works well with my mk6 wheel

I am looking to retrofit bluetooth and need some advice on which one to get for my golf.

I have an 05 gti, RCD510,  and the older clocks.

Which one would be best but not stupid expensive. Was thinking the 7P6 kit?

Thanks for the info, do you have the full part number? I have seen a 5K0 on Ebay ( 5K0 035 730 D ) however it says only works with the white dot matrix display.

As mine is an older MFD i guessing i will need an older bluetooth system?

Thanks mate helps a lot, bit of a minefield tbh.

Or been offered this unit

I have a feeling that the 1k8 is the one that only works with white highline - but Eddie_nl will be able to confirm.

He can also most probably source you the wiring harness for around the £50-60 mark, so of you can get a module for under £100 (I paid about £60 I think for my last one) then you would be much cheaper than the first link above

Nothing wrong with that question, we are all noobs at things. You don't need an aerial no, as it uses the phone for signal. All you need is the module and the loom - which also includes the mic

I think i asked similar questions earlier in the thread when I was looking to do the same thing a while ago.
Heres the info i collected at the time to help.

The 7P6 kit. Also known as the 9W7.
7P6 = (doesn't display in Highline) but works with RCD510 + RNS510, plays audio from your phone, Phone button works on mfsw and works with all phones.

Note: does display in highline if you have the polar fis advanced module :)

7P6 035 730 A/B/C/D etc

For music streaming you need a module that supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile, bluetooth 2.0)

7P6 035 730 B - HFP and A2DP
7P6 035 730 C - HFP and A2DP, text to speech and voice recognition
7P6 035 730 D - HFP and A2DP, text to speech and voice recognition, supports external phone cradle

HFP = Hands Free Profile (Phone still logged in, Vehicle/Bluetooth Module acts mostly as Headset)

I have the 7P6 in my car, and has worked with all my android phones.

And finally, see here for a low down on all the bluetooth modules and capabilities :)

Thanks for this guide OP. Just followed it completely and installed a 7p6 kit in my 2008 car.  It didnt even need any coding.  Worked straight away.

Hi Kieran, which model did you install I.e. what was the last letter a,b,c or was it one of the later spec ones?
Thanks Rob

Hi Rob. It had the letter M at the end and began with 7p6. Got it from a seller in UK on eBay for 90 pound. Bought the mic from some one on here for 10 pound and loom from carsystems.pl separate then. Worked our pretty reasonable all together. Really impressed with it. Have Bluetooth streaming of music and phone book etc on headunit

7p6 would be the one to go for, however you wont see the phone options in the highline menu, unless you get a 100 quid adapter

Also appreciating this post by Smokey, I followed it pretty much to a T only cutting one or two corners whilst routing microphone lead.

Hi Guys! I'm new to the forum and recently bought a Golf V Gti .... And apparently I will be with you for a long time!

The car is equipped with a factory Bluetooth kit but it is old generation and I can not connect my mobile phone!

It is a model 2008 GTI luxury pack with highline cluster and MFSW with the new buttons! I recently put an RCD510 on it and now I want to put the BT module on it to connect my cell phone! All of the above are factory except for the rcd 510 ... It also has a factory antenna for bluetooth!

Can you help me buy the right spare part? Thanks in advance! Greetings from beautiful Greece!
