Hi my ED30 turns 4 at the end of May, it will require a major service, dsg service, cam belt and water pump plus MOT ,by my maths its £946 this was from the fixed price menu.
Seams a lot off Money any advice please .
I don't think there can e any issues with the Brakes as they were all replaced last year with new disks and pads with refurbished S3 calipers plus a set off Michelin tyres .
DO VW Dealers price match should I go to a indy or just pay up ?
Thank you

May get flamed for this, but from passed experienced and also reading others experience, I always go to an independent specialist.
Why ?
They care more about you as a customer and your car, this is because they are not employee, it's normally there business rep they are taking care of.
I just had my car service, I got it from a vw dealer a year ago. As part of the purchase deal I requested a few things to be done, haldex oil change, engine oil etc !
To cut a long story short, my specialist showed me the condition of the haldex oil, they never changed it or the filter, I don't trust dealers !

Hi , I am in Seaford Sussex

to be honest VW price match isn't worth much as you need it in writing with the garages name etc stating genuine parts will be used etc etc.. they know what they're doing, I would just get the DSG service done at VW and the rest specialist

Only £872 going by my local dealers prices.

Sorry frodo ,I forgot it requires its MOT @£59 as well

If you are desperate for a stamp, how about gewtting the service done at VW and all the other bits- cambelt, waterpump, MOT at a cheaper indy.
My SEAT's never been to SEAT for a service, and its 6 years old now.

DSG service cost me £160 at Stoke Audi 10 days ago. that was the cheapest i could find at a main dealer local to me. i'd imagine they'd price match that if it's costing you more. PM me if you want a copy of the invoice and i'll dig it out tonight

That price does include all the above mentioned, even the MOT. Thats before they give me a quote based on 'my prices' as they call it. :signLOL:

another tip is to buy the oil yourself
i had a minor service last week and they knocked £50 off the price for me bringing my own oil. luckily i'd snapped up some Castrol Edge 5w30 FST for £27.50 for 4L, so it worked out at just under £135 for a minor service, which is 10% off the fixed price, and defo worth it for the stamp in the book. (plus i trust my dealer so not worth saving a few pennies to go to an indy)
even if you buy VW Quantam, i think there's still a saving to be had there.
