Title: Johns GT
Post by: John GT140 on March 12, 2012, 07:43:06 pm
Starting to get some work done on my golf now the winter weather and salty roads seem to be over, at the weekend i decided to take the steels winter wheels  off and fit the standard classix alloys that i have had painted delphin grey to contrast against the reflex silver body , while i was on i removed the arch liners and removed all the winter crud and mud and leaves that had built up over the years , i also wanted to check the inner wings for any rust as i have read that some owners have had issues . after a good scrub this is how they turned out !(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi289.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll233%2Fjpbug_photos%2FSAM_1064.jpg&hash=8d9b296431a4d86e443ad701adc9995a90792bb9)

I also decided to remove the mud flaps as i found over winter they wern't very good at keeping dirt off. All the plastic & rubber hoses were spruced up and the metal ends and brake lines were treated to a fine film of white grease . i painted the calipers silver while i was on . should have my modified gti lower valance to fit this week once its finished

Looks smart mate  :happy2:

Always wondered what Classix's would look like in a different colour.  Think it works really well with a silver car & the silver calipers.

Did some more work today . The car was in need of a service so i headed down to VW pulman in durham . i talked about service plans & warranty etc but as mine was due for inspection service this was going to cost £259 . I decided to get all the parts i needed and do it myself as i have done in the past , this also gives me peace of mind as i can have a good look with the engine covers off , all in the parts were £104 thats with %10 discount from lance who had a very tidy bora with R32 wheels and lows , thanks mate

ive made a bit of a mess with the order of the pics but you get the idea , parts changed were all filters and new long life oil as that is what the engine has always run on by the book. oil was minging black and air & pollen filters were rank .
So all nice and new now

Nah mate had a couple of axle stands under aswell . Have been looking at getting a set of ramps as i service familys cars and next doors , also to protect the jacking points , the widow maker isn't that bad tho in all honesty
