Title: Car storage advice
Post by: phil197 on March 13, 2012, 06:35:39 pm
Hi Guys,

With myself and the wife in a position too both use the Gti, im taking my bmw 330ci off the road, with the idea of tidying it up over the next year..if i get round to it.

Question is what do i have to do, is it just a matter of keeping handbrake off and diconnecting battery or is there alot more i can do...any advice much appreciated

Some extra large silica gel pouches (ebay) to prevent moisture build up for your interior is a good start, make sure all your fluids are topped too

If you don't want to go to the extreme of storing the car on axle stands then pump up the tyres beyond what you normally use.

Petrol loses it's octane over time so adding some petrol stabiliser to the tank will slow this down.

A good, soft, strong breathable car cover.

I used to have a dehumidifier in my garage & a heater when I was storing my RS, but it all depends how long you are going to store it?
