				Hi Guys,

 The CAR: I've got a mk5 GTI 55plate DSG 66k miles.

Problem is excessive noise - It's recently become more noticeably more louder from what sounds like an exhaust sound which increases upto 70mph then goes away  the sound is so loud.. that  only a stereo can drown it out  when the speeds are in the 60mphs.

I'm a bit baffled as an inspection of the exhaust under throttle has revealed no holes.  could it be a bearing?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

 Cheers, Jaz

Does the sound increase with the engine or gearbox speed? Also consider a constant velocity joint.

Fixed... it was worn bearing. :laugh

Took it into an powerflow garage toda, they had a look seeing there was no exhaust probelm, we' proceeded to a  test drive and all agreed there was rasp like, with a lot of speculation for bearing failure in DSG box... with lots of head-scratching and  back on the ramp's I'd intervened spinning each wheel, to find  one o/s/r wheel gave a slight rasping sound (but no lateral bearing play) . swapout £97.20 (OEM bearing ) + £50.00 installtion fixed it. :happy2:
