Hi there Im replacing my golf's original tailgate which is dented for an R32 tailgate but obviously I want to debadge the R32 as mine is just a standard tdi. can anyone help me as to how I'd remove the R32 emblems and what resources I need?
Thanks guys
-
dental floss and a hair dryer and follow up by a good polish
-
Either dental floss or just pull them off! Mine came off a dream on a warm day!! :happy2:
-
anything in particular to polish with? ive got t-cut?

I wouldn't use T-Cut as it's quite abrasive and you may scratch it. Wax will do the job, just something to break the sticky down to clear the left over adhesive! :happy2:
-
hmm i dont have any wax what about wd40?

wonder if you can help me with something else mate im looking at putting a gti rear valance on my golf but my car has the hidden exhaust pipes, i want to keep the discrete look, so I would want the hole filling on the gti rear can this be done at decent body shops?

Isn't the rear valance for the GT140 the same?
-
i think there is a blank exhaust valance for the r32 right?]
you basically want to go from the big black plastic one piece GT lower bumper to the two piece GTI one? but without the cut out?
-
basically my golf rear lower look like this (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fquince7%2FR32_Rears%2FR32RearLights003-1.jpg&hash=33cd91428bc5d566ee12079e7329e6331961665d)
I would want mine to look this but with the space for the tailpipes filled and the toe eye cover obviously!

Yeh Im sure the GT140 has the rear bumper your after.
-
the top picture is the GT 140 if im not wrong?

It may be but the later models had GTI style front and rear bumpers. :happy2:
-
This isn't the exact bumper im referring to but this would do the trick. Maybe some of the soot chuckers could help you with part numbers etc? :happy2:

i see well i dont suppose anyone has a part number for it do they? would help me out greatly,
and another question, when I do the gti conversion on my car, i'll want to colour code as my car is silver but the door handles and side strips are textured black i think, one painter told me he wouldn't do it for a couple months if I've used any black restorers on them due to the silicone content, and another one said I might need new side strips as they're glued on, i can get hold of primed side strips but i would just like to ask if anyone else has ever colour coded their car and knows any good people who can do it im in leicestershire but willing to travel to get it done properly!
-
the GTs dont come with the GTI style rear bumpers, just the fronts.

You just missed out on a full votex kit on ebay!
The rear alone is £300 ish
-
that kit is £400! the lower valance is only £50 from vw dealers man!

Something like Auto Glym tar remover will lift any glue left behind straight off.
-
can anyone shed any more light on this lower valance question without starting another topic? thanks
-
that lower valance for the front will be miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiles more than 50 quid (for the votex one)
-
im not too fussed about the votex front, i'll be getting the vagen gti conversion bumper as i cant be bothered to change the slam panel and member, the i want the discrete rear as i dont really want the gti twin exhaust look as my car doesnt give the same power as a gti, but i do want to change the front and rear for the better!
-
i know someone who got VW to take off his GOLF badge and i'm sure it was close to £5/letter
more money than sense!!!

The guy i work with got his colour coded at the VW garage he got the car from, not sure on the area so will ask tomorrow but he lives in Coalville.
As others have said i think your just after the earlier 140TDI bumper, dont know part numbers though......could be worth a call to VW?

The GT sport 140 comes with the crappy plastic one as shown on the first page, there isn't a standard rear valance that looks like the GTi without the cutouts.
There's an ED30 replica without the cutout

Also, if you can get the votex valance for £50 I'll snap your arm off LOL.

The Votex rear is a two piece thing of beauty.
No idea on the quality of the ebay bumper, it's from germany so chances are it's quite good
-
any pictures of the votex rear?
