Now then
I am due a service on my edition 30 2008 reg as its reached 40k and VW are recommending I replace the timing belt and water pump. The service is free but didnt really want to fork out over £400 for both belt and pump. Would you guys recomend these be replaced or should I hang on till the next service is due?
-
Where are you based bud?
-
Co Durham mate
-
Would look at it as, £400 now or if it snaps or pump fails then a much bigger bill!
-
You shouldn't skip cambelt / wp. I know somewhere (Vw master technician) in Doncaster that is cheaper than £400 for cambelt & wp :happy2:
-
VW website is now saying £419 apparently :scared:
-
Great mate thanks
Bet she needs pads as well. cheers guys will just get the belt and pump done. :happy2:
-
Just another quicky,
I got a quote for pads (front only) came in at £139 fitted just incase there needed. Would I be better off just getting my own from say ebay and then getting my local fitter to fit them? any pads about that price that are better guys?
-
if £139 is from VW themselfs.. thats good.. if it's £139 from a independant.. don't do it lol trust me they use cheap stuff
-
Servicing wise with mine I would let VW do it just to keep stamps in the book, anything that comes up on the health check or other things you know needs doing, do it yourself if you have the means.
-
£139 for pads i would shop around for a better price
-
£139 isn't a bad price tho,
Get the cambelt done
-
Speak to Simon at Quicksale Sports and Performance in Ferryhill, If you buy the parts from VW he will fit them much cheaper. :happy2:

Yeh £139 for the front pads from VW in Darlington, I may not need them yet. I will get the belt and pump done better to be safe than to be sorry. thanks guys :happy2:
