iv got an annoying rattle from my boot and i cant find it. itsnot the seats as iv tried it with them done. spare wheel is sound. had the lights out and nothing rattling in them. iv had the bootlid trim off . iv adjusted the rubber mounts on the bootlid. still rattling. anything else i can try

My boot lock came loose the other week. Rattled alot.

na not my balls. lol parcel shelf seems ok. i rekon it could be the boot lock. as i can rattle the boot when its shut. do i have to take bootlid trim of to check the lock.

i can remember when the MK5 first came out the most common question was what is that knocking noise from the boot, the stooopid parcel shelf ball caught alot of people out :smiley:

You don't need to take the trim off. You try and move it by hand, if you can, the plastic either side should bend back to uncover the bolt heads. They are the star shape.

definatly not the bootlock as thats solid as a rock. and definatly not the parcel shelf balls had the parcel shelf out and the rattle still there. im stumped :stupid:

Loose plastic in the tailgate? Maybe the light clusters?

Got the exact same problem
Only started when I changed to coilovers, been reading loads
About seats not in place, rear lights, spare tyre
I have tried it all and now given up.
I'm changing to springs in the hope the noise will go away.
