This is my attempt at manufacturing a fully hidden/quick release towbar for my Edition30.

looks well hidden to me mate how have you done it?
-
I removed the swan neck section off the Whitter towbar and made a new thinner section out of box section that would fit between the bumper and the rear panel, then fitted a quick release pin.
Its quite simple really considering none of the main manufacturers do a towbar for the ED30 because of the rear valance!

Looks great buddy :congrats:
-
get it weight rated and tested, develope one for the R32 MK5+4 too and you would set a tonne of them.....

Would somebody be interested in buying this?
-
Yes me! Could it pull a caravan? Lol
-
without doubt interested in this, also just need it for a bike rack so not worried if it can't take a lot of weight!
-
I only designed it to a bike rack for my mountain bike!
-
Great effort mate. :congrats:
-
What sort of cost did this work out to be? Looks a much better option than the roof rack I was just about to purchase!
-
Cost me about £150 in total.
It was fantastic when I needed my cat to go mountain biking!
I've had roof bars in the past and they are OK but this was miles better! Don't know whether to sell it or keep if for when I get another Mk5?
-
Why not make them as said above or at least a plan of how to make one?
-
I could do... Worth thinking about!
-
I would be interested! did you bother putting the electrics in as well? my bikes pretty light but still worried about lifting it on the roof :S
-
Didn't bother with electrics, I wouldn't know where to start with them...
-
I'd be very interested in this as well.
Was hoping to avoid roof racks or those stupid straped bike carriers for my mk5 when the time comes.
-
That's does look good, I have a bike carrier which really does not fit properly on the back of my mk5.
