Title: Hello from Somerset!
Post by: No.433 on March 19, 2012, 11:04:12 am
Hello

I recently joined the forum after purchasing my first VAG car (I have a history of Italian cars [Alfa 147, Punto mk.1 GT]).

I’ve bought a 55 plate, manual 3-door GTI in blue (shadow blue is it?)

I’ve been doing some forum lurking and searches, and it seem you guys known your stuff. One thing I have ascertained is that there isn’t many things on this car that are simple!

I’ve got an RNS510, which is great, but no Ipod/Aux hookup, which will have to be sorted. I don’t have a manual/handbook either (for the car or stereo), so that will have to be sorted!

I’m based in mid Somerset and work in the Bristol area – I think a Stg 1 remap will be on the cards at some point, but have read some comments that the clutch on the manual might not like that idea....

As you can see from the pic, I don’t have the standard wheels fitted. I like the wheels I’ve got, but think I’m really in the market for 18” Monza II (anyone interested in a swap?!), not sure what brand the ones I have are though, don’t recognise the name.

Anyway, just saying hello really!

welcome mate!
I am running stage 2+ on standard clutch with no issues. It all depends how you drive.... I don't tend to floor it in 5 and 6 gear below 3k revs!

He...been away a while!

Nige, they are in good condition. The fronts have some scuff/curb marks on outside edge, but it's quite uniform and light in depth, no significant gouges. Otherwise, all wheels have no pitting or corrosion and no other marks to speak of.

When it stops raining long enough for me to clean her (the weekend?!?!) I'll post some pics of the wheels and see if anyone wants to swap for some Monza IIs......

Robern et al, I'm in Street.

Cheers
