Title: New Stereo in!
Post by: Alexander on May 07, 2009, 07:45:02 pm
Finally after being messed around trying to get a decent facia by a few companies i've finally got my double din stereo in!
Still need to have a play to get the colours matched exactly but looks pretty good so far. Yet to have my upgraded speakers installed but it makes the standard speakers sound much better.
Ran a switched live from the fuse box so it comes on and goes off with ignition, the only thing I didn't sort was the dimmer wire.
Will eventually be replaced by a double din screen after harvest but should sound good once I have my upgraded 3 ways in.

Not my bag.

Im not keen on the visible usb slot... looks untidy...
but... even less keen on the facia within a facia type look.

Hopefully the sound outweighs the negatives though.

You cant really get around the facia in facia problem what ever stereo you go for they all have a surround. The USB slot has a cover that slides up over it to cover it up which looks alot better, you can probably just about make it out.

Doesn't the head unit have its own dimmer setting built in?

My DNX has a screen dimmer in it's settings functions.

Does it? Dont think I have noticed that!

Nice stero by the way! Looks very different to what every one else would normally get!

Yeah I think mine does as well Hurdy.
Thanks for the comments guys. As I said it will probably eventually get replaced with a double din screen but its good for now. The reason I chose it is because the button locations are similar to the OEM stereo and infinitely variable colours mean you can get a good colour match with the rest of the illumination, just been outside and it looks factory in the dark. Not too bright either so not too worried about the dimmer.

Just trying to get a quote to have my speakers installed that wont need a bank loan! most have been around the £150 mark so far and thats just for the fronts! Going in to a place tomorrow for them to have a look and give me a quote. Next step after getting the speakers in will probably be amping them up it depends how they sound.

I prefer the OEM look too much to ever bother changing my stereo.

you will probably find that with after market speakers and a HU, it will sound miles better than before. and if your not too serious about an amp, its probably good enough, for you, without
