As above, when i hit an uneven patch of road/bump in the road my wheels catch as the H & R spacers needed to clear the Porsche calipers mean the Monza's stick out more, does this happen to everyone else who runs the NQSBBK with 18 inch Monza's?
My winter wheels the Skoda Zenith II clear without the need for spacers, and at the moment it puts you off pushing on when you hear the scraping noise.
I presume there is no solution other than running different wheels eg BBS VZ/Pescara?
Thanks.

have you taken the torx head screw out of the arch liner at the top?
-
hi phil, i have not sir.
now you mention it, i do remember reading something about that somewhere.
so will that remove the liner and therefore the rubbing?
-
well when i first lowered mine on coilovers if i gave it the beans it rubbed slightly i saw the thread about the screw and when i fitted new tyres in jan to my 18in monza reps i took the screw out and TBH i havent heard it rub since mate
Hope it helps mate :happy2:

What size spacers are they?
I ran 10mm H&R spacers on the front with monzas for a couple of years with no problems at all
-
cheers james, and i will have to check guy who fitted the brakes originally put them on and i just got them bunged back on when put the summer rubber ans monza back on
-
I thought that the NQSBBK was designed to fit without spacing?

yeah me too, I know Dave says you can get the larger 996 turbo claipers under BBS VZ but my Monza Detroit (now refurbed to look like Shadows) do not fit without the spacers
-
I thought that until I got mine fitted. For monza 2s you need a minimum of a 3mm spacer. That's what I have and it's really close

I have to run 15mm with 17" Monzas on the Polo. :sad1: And the replacement BBS RK2 504 Splits i brought at ET35 dont clear them either. TD Pro Race 1.2 are basically my only cheap option to not have to run spacers.

is there any negatives removing the screw? presumably it was put there for a reason??
-
no negatives at all, you can tuck the liner up behind the lug that held the screw and it does the same job. Your northwest based aren't you? if you need a hand give us a shout :happy2:
-
yeah not too far from you Gaz, you in Bolton right? I go there for the 4 wheel alignment at Nigel Langs, will give u shout if need be :happy2:
-
yep, Bolton, use Nigel Langs myself, like I said if u need a lift doin the arch mod thing pop round and I'll do it for you

OEM wheels are REALLY narrow, 7.5" in the case of the MonzaII and I Beleive 7" on the polo.
We can't get a quart out of a pint pot so some spacing is always going to be required.
Andy if we know a 3mm spacer will work why not go for some 8mm hub centric spacers and remove the bolt.
I have only ever heard of one BBK that fits the OEM wheel without spacers and that was my Pro5000+ AP kit I did about 18 months ago that's on a very skinny specialist caliper that was originally fitted to a Metro 6R4
So the only car on the Mk5 platform that gets 4 pots is the TTRS which gets 8.5" wheels and spokes that are designed to be roomy, the TTRS caliper is also skinny ......same family of calipers as the ford GT
The other variable is Tyres, some are really rounded on the shoulder and some are very square.

These are one set of Ap pro5000's that came from you :happy2:

So stock suspension with 8mm spacers to clear NQSBBK will not rub at all, not even at the track, if the fender screw is removed?
