Title: Mk4 Golf GTi 25th Anniversary enhancement
Post by: craigy123 on March 24, 2012, 09:28:48 pm
As the car was brought to me, as you can see, not the dirtiest car in the world, but alot of room for improvement.

First up as usual was the wheels, these have been re-finished in a smoked chrome powdercoat, as im sure your all aware the factory finish is notorious for failing.

They were cleaned using a weak mixture of Megs wheel brightner, a Daytona wheel brush, EZ detail small and a swissvax wheel brush.

Me cleaning the wheels (as Marv watched)

And cleaned

Next up was the bodywork, this was foamed using Megs Shampoo plus
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcraigyboy_01%2FBeeza%2Ffa9d88b1.jpg&hash=d89c0829eb399d989067e538fd8def3b5f428c0a)

Window seals, badges etc were worked with a valet pro brush
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcraigyboy_01%2FBeeza%2F1638ba09.jpg&hash=b26a01237f55879a6b10a6011250da57b869edda)

the arches were foamed with Megs APC and power rinsed, worked in with a Vikan also.

Car was then Power rinsed and washed in the usual 2BM using Megs shampoo plus and a lamswool mitt.
Power rinsed again then AS tardis was applied to the lower half of the car to remove tar deposits, some tar spots were also found on higher panels which were spot removed. Once this stage was complete the car was re-foamed to make sure all traces of tardis were removed. The car was then clayede using VP fine yellow clay and Megs last touch as lubricant. Quite alot of pick up was found.

The car was then rinsed again then using an open hose, water was sheeted over the car to aid drying, car was moved inside and dried using ultra plush drying towels.

Now ready for the enhancement to be carried out, this was done via a milauwalkee rotary, 3M yellow polishing pad and Megs #205.
What was achieved, also notice the flake "pop" out

The rest of the car was completed, While i was doing this, the owner sealed the wheels with poorboys wheels sealant, dressed the tyres with gloss it signature tire gloss and dressed the arches with Megs all seasons.

The car was then glazed using clearkote red moose glaze via DA, removing the glaze
