Title: is my mot certificate correct and strange advisories :s
Post by: Mingle on March 25, 2012, 12:23:41 pm
I had a mot and service done yesterday at a vag specialist. I have two questions.

1) is my mot test certificate correct? it's on White paper not the green and it has no sticker as they normally do, at the bottom it says it's a receipt style  :surprised: why have I not been given the proper one?

2) I have 3 advisory items but it's number 2 and 3 which I don't understand. he told me about the cv boot but not the other and didn't see them as the mot was in the car. the garage was just shutting as I left and were shut when I got home the garage is very well run and know they alway do a top job so not saying anything against them and sure they will tell me Monday when they open but I can't understand them.

001 offside front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated but preventing the ingress of dirt

002 under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components

003 engine covers fitted obscuring some components in the engine bay

I've never fitted any covers  :surprised: what could they be?

thanks

That is the new MOT style cert (sample copy from DFT http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/Plain%20Paper%20MOT%20Test%20Certificate%20(VT%2020).pdf)

When SWMBO bought a car and I saw that alarm bells started ringing unitl I did a search.

As for the advisories got no idea

He probably didn't bother to inspect some under side components because they "were obscured".....like brake lines etc...more like because they didn't want to remove them etc.... Just like when they put "spare wheel not present" because your boot had stuff in....

He's covering his arse mate. If you drive out of there and have an accident due to something going wrong with something he couldn't see, but has just passed your car as fit and ready, then that is his safety net. And yes that is the new style mot.

thanks lads  :happy2: that's put my mind at easy with the mot

With the under trays I'm not sure what to think as why would he need to cover his arse  but if the service was done first then is that the tester just maybe taking the servicers word that all is ok as I know he takes to another garage for his mot's
