Title: getting rid of tar
Post by: MrP on March 26, 2012, 10:44:52 am
i've given the golf a clean over the weekend, and noticed that its covered in tar everywhere.

i've got some autoglym tar remover, and some other tar remover on the way, but i dont know whats the best way to use it when there's that much on the car.

do i just cover the entire car with the tar remover, or do i have to work on individual spots?

also, do i put the tar remover on when the cars wet or dry?

was also thinking of putting some ironx on it to get rid of any iron deposits as well.

at a guess, the procedure should be wash, dry, tar remover, wash, dry, ironx, wash, dry.

thanks

I prefer to spray tardis straight onto the paintwork. Any leftover spots can be tackled with tardis on a microfibre.

I also wouldn't dry after washing post-iron-x. Leave the car wet and clay it. Then wash and dry before polishing/sealing.

Remember, tardis will strip any wax or sealant on the car too.

i dont mind it stripping protection off, i think the garage put lifeshine or something on before i bought it, so i want that off and some decent wax on.

so does tardis have to go on dry?
