Title: Remote unlocking question...?
Post by: TimS996 on March 26, 2012, 10:05:04 pm
Not sure if I am imagining things but when unlocking the car now with the key fob, one push just unlocks the drivers door. I am certain that up until recently one push unlocked all three doors.

It's had a bit of work done recently, in and out of a couple of garages, so I wonder if it has been reprogrammed by accident somehow?

The car does not have the fancy computer, just the usual one.

Does anyone have any ideas or know how to reprogramme iit to open all the doors?

Thanks.

1 push driver door

2/3 push all doors

Needs plugging into vag.com to get coded to do it, I get it done to all my cars, goes from 1 touch drivers door 2 touch all doors to then do just 1 touch all doors  :happy2:

Thanks.  What I was wondering though, was how it has gone by itself from 1 touch to 2 touch.

Could it have reprogrammed itself by accident through a sequence of key presses or could one of the workshops have done it by accident?

I've noticed the same thing with the wing mirrors.

When the Right mirror is selected, both left and right move together, when they used to be separate.

Do the dealers usually charge for this service?

My Audi dealer didn't charge me to set the locking to all doors but i dunno if that's because i've got a good relationship with them and have been using the same service advisor for 6 years

some may charge you labour, but its a job that takes mere minutes - awkwardness can sometimes be that they have a minimum of 30min charge on jobs

its unlikely to have done it by itself

where abouts are you? might be worth seeing if theres a forum member that could help you out?

You can do it in highline but in the op it says he has midline

I definitely have the midline. I'll give my local vw garage a call, they're usually pretty good.

Might go and dig the spare key out, see if that is the same. Maybe after a year I'm imaging things that have always been there.

Do you really want to change it back?  It's a security feature, so that no-one can get into the passenger door when the driver's alone.  I keep it activated on my car and my wife's Passat, for when I'm not with her.

+1 added security is the way forward!
