Title: When should I replace/upgrade the lpfp/in tank pump?
Post by: ROH ECHT on March 27, 2012, 05:20:40 pm
I have my mods plus adding the RS4 rail valve. I'm looking to improve the lpfp and can't decide whether or not to just replace the oem lpfp or upgrade. If I do upgrade, which one do I use - bosch 044? Lastly, what is that install like to do? Thanks all.. :drinking:

What values are you seeing when logging the lpfp pressure output (block 103) with vcds?

I haven't gotten it back from the body shop yet, but when I do it will have a new RS4 rail valve in it. I'll log it and see what the pressure is then. I have 78k miles right now and I'm just interested in whether or not, if pressure is lacking, to go with a new oem or a Bosch 044. The filter was recently replaced and a new follower is due at 80k miles.

The only time I've had to fit an 044 was on a xbow with a 3076 on a .84 exhaust housing. It's not straightforward at all and probably won't work with the cars fuel pump control unit.  Standard pump is good for 425 bhp where after that it can't hold the pressure required.  The 044 will hold 6 bar all day long.

Do some fueling logs and chuck them up on here.
