My mpg dropped very slightly when i fitted an uprated hpfp. I simply put it down to the pump now being able to meet the requested rail pressure and pumping through more fuel.

It shouldn't affect mpg as the map will only ever request 110bar at most. The fact the pump can supply more doesn't mean it has to.

Has the level on your dipstick risen and does your oil stink of petrol?  :scared:

Apparently for me after going K04 the car is most economical comapred to stage 1, stage 2 and stage 2+....

Don't really know how to explain it

 :surprised:

Probably because you spend more time off boost as the K04 spools later.

that's must be it! My morning drive to work is 15 miles on motorway and always take it easy as engine cold and plenty of traffic... Keep it at 100-120 km/h and today saw a average figure I haven't seen since gti ownership 6.6l/100km which is 42 mpg, usually with K03 was lucky to see anything below 8l, best 7.8l/100 km.

However K04 compared to K03 seems laggy.... For example when cruising on 6th gear at 90 km/h at ca 2k revs I could step on it and the car smoothly accelerated. With K04 the car is not as smooth and kinda begs for downshift....

However up from 3.5 revs it's animal!

the hpfp only fitted 2 days ago. im wondering is the superchips remap asking for more fuel than is necessary, and now the pump can supply it, its burning up more fuel. i did have problems with black smoke on the superchips remap and guessed it was chucking unburnt fuel out.

No mate I think you are clutching at straws.

You will only use more if the map requests it. If it was only fitted 2 days ago and your mpg has suffered since then that sounds like they have fooked it up.  :happy2:

im changing the remap and getting it dynoed on saturday, so that might show if the pump is right or not. i watched the guy fit it and it seemed to go fine. it would be  nice to be sure its all working ok.

2.0t oil does smell petrolly. Unless your oil level is increasing there is nothing to worry about.
