Hi guys,
I'm looking for all the part numbers to the bits for the rear parking sensor system from the MY09+ A3s. Everything from the CECM backwards. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
S.

thanks! so the one in the middle is the module, one at the top is the CECM, what's the bottom one for?
also i need the p/ns for the wiring looms between them and the speaker too
(i've got a 2006 A3 with an aftermarket parking sensor system - i'm having the 09+ S-Line rear bumper installed and it happened to have factory sensors with it. i just need the wiring and the module so i can plug it all in so it works!)

The interface varies depending on 4 or 8 sensors and if is includes park assist (side sensors).
PARKHILFE 4K means it's a 4 sensor interface. The interface sits in the boot area.
You will need to pick up CAN Hi & Lo as well as power and ground. You won't get ready made looms from Audi. Kufatec would be the best option for that. You won't beat the prices or ease of using one of their looms -

I have given you the number of a suitable controller so all you need is the buzzer which normally sits in the door pillar.

where can i get the stuff in bold from? sorry i've tried searching for info for this for weeks but have found very little - which is perhaps understandable because of the expense
-
CAN Hi & Lo you don't 'Get', it's the Controller Area Network in your car used to communicate between all controllers and the CAN Gateway.
If I were you I'd buy the Kufatec looms mate.
-
oh assumed they were something you needed to buy/install :signLOL:
so with the 2 kufatec looms it's plug and play, provided i get a speaker?
-
I also don't think you can just change the CECM as the later ones changed to BCM (Body Control Module) and included the CECM and Comfort System in one unit.
You might not need the CECM.
-
do you know what byte CECM i'd need?
-
Yes the speaker is a very simply two pin unit almost identical to this -

You can see the plug for the speaker on the wiring loom picture at Kufatec, it's labeled warnsummer

i've already got a speaker from a 2004 car. i've also got it's module, which i understand might work with my new sensors, but the rear sensors were the wrong type as was the wiring, and the bits from the CECM to the module weren't included so i've got a bit of a mish-mash of parts and no real clue how to get it all working

Notice on the newer cars the controller has a different assignment. (76 older, 10 newer) This relates to the controller and it having OPS or not.
-
The speakers will be the same, old or new.
-
The wiring will differ if the Parking unit is newer or older - 10 is connected differently to 76.
If I were you I'd go with 76 and older stuff unless you want to try and get OPS but you need to add front sensors and have a late RNS-E for that.
-
the only reason i've done it this way is because a member on Audi Sport back when i was a member had newer sensors plugged into his old module from his factory sensors and it all worked fine. around the same time the 2004 sensor kit came up for sale for a reasonable price so i went for it.
the difference with me, ofc, is that i don't have factory sensors so the plan was to use the older wiring from my CECM to the module, and then the newer wiring from my module to the speakers. it can't harm to try, and if it doesn't work i'll sell the sensors with the kufatec loom to get some of my money back. i'm just worried my CECM won't support sensors at all, tho i'd be surprised because i've got auto lights/wipers on my car and a couple of other high spec bits.
not all MY09+ 8Ps have front sensors, so i'd be surprised if that was an absolute requirement to getting it all working. in fact i know of more than one person who've just fitted the rears so fingers crossed it should be fine. if not, well i've already got the late model RNS-E so maybe i'll just fit front sensors as well lol. i've actually got 4 spare after all!
thanks very much for your help mate - i owe you a pint or something definitely. i've asked these questions before on other forums and nobody has been anywhere near as helpful as you, even people who i know know the answers!

I have upgraded an R36 Passat from non OPS to to OPS just by changing the the Parking Controller (76 to 10) and then adding the additional wiring so I know that aspect is possible. However I'm certain for the A3 you need front sensors to have OPS.
So what I'm saying here is you may as well stick with the older setup of a 76 controller.

I haven't suggested that all MY09 onwards had 8 or more sensors, I had a late car with only rears so I know that's not the case. Perhaps you misunderstood.

No problem. I know Nige at ASN has done a fair bit with Parking sensors, we've discussed it before.

ohhhh i get you now. yeah sorry for factory OPS on the 8P you need front and rear sensors, but it can be retrofitted for rears only - NHN did it to his. i'm not sure whether you need the MY10 RNS-E or not, but yep you definitely need the later module
i'm not bothered about OPS anyway, just want my sensors working :happy2:
