Hi guys recently bought a gti mkv dsg and so far i am loving it. Its been tuned and i called up the tuner and they say its around 280-290bhp. Now a problem i am having is from standstill i constantly get wheelspin and i am modulating the throttle to avoid spinning and wheel hopping besides going easier on the throttle which i am learning :p anyone have any other tips on launching off the line or simply getting a better start! Would be much appreciated :)
Oh also how do i add pictures into my posts?!

The DSG boys will help you out here.
I believe you have a cheating device called 'launch control' !
-
My favourite tip for using launch control is.....
...don't use launch control  It puts you into a frenzy of wheelspin.
Just try to get into 2nd and 3rd as quick as you can to keep hold of your traction :drinking:
-
As above. Just short shift to 2nd and you will get a better launch
-
Just squeeze the throttle in first gear, then whack it in 2nd and floor it.
-
Launch Control??? Does DSG have that? :driver:
-
ESP on or off??
-
for best acceleration, launch control on, ESP off, S mode and hold on :signLOL:

yes all DSG cars have. GTI cars do, but not all the VAG range with DSG offer this function, ie Derv cars

Thanks for all the replies guys much appreicated! unfortunately my GTI does not have launch control or atleast im sure it doesnt as i cant see a button for it! it is an 05 plate. I may try revving in first and then changing up into 2nd with paddles!

You dont get a button. place gear lever in S-mode, ESP/off left foot on the brake pedal, with your right foot (obviously )floor the accelerator, if it wont climb over 3000RPM ish then you are launch control engaged.

I will have to try that tonight! Is there any way using this technique damages the car? I know sounds silly but i read it somewhere :s

You need a clutch, that'll sort your wheelspin out!!!

you need to go into jussas car.. now that thing launches like no f***ing tomurrow!! minimal spin but thats put down because of awd!
-
Don't forget the car needs to be warmed up before you try this. As does the DSG box. Whatever you do don't do it from cold!

Agreed. Don't do this at zebra crossings either

To help with the spinning and wheel hop I'd definitely recommend the VW racing lower engine mount, one of the best mods I ever did when I had my GTi at stage 2+ :happy2:

I swear I read somewhere that certain DSGs don't have launch control. Namely those without steering paddles.

True. All ed30s have it but not all DSG cars.
-
My PD140 never had it either
-
I think I would end up with bald tyres if I did launch control in mine (I have actually never tried it!)

Is that an alternative to the WALK kit or something different? Also have you got a link to the item?

Mine has paddles and is a stage 2 so once this sleet and rain clears up im gonna go out and give it a good blast! Btw has anyone used dynolicious app for the iphone.. Measures bhp and 0-60 times.. My car measured at 314hp they say it can be up to 20bhp out from actual readings.
