I have a 2007 model GTI with a beesting aerial. I believe the car also has an aerial in the rear window. As the title suggests I can not get any AM reception at all. I have had the head unit out to check that the aerial is connected. Both were connected and it was the 2-in-1 style block connecter so they had to be the right way around. Am I right in saying that the AM signal comes solely from the rear window? I am wanting to take the trim off and check the connections around there. Is there some kind of connection underneath the trim?
I know most folk don't bother with AM nowadays but it's still great for sport when you don't have DAB.
I have an RCD300 stereo.

I don't have any am signal either and as you say it's good for sport.

Does nobody have any ideas on this? Come on guys. Any help much appreciated.

The antenna on the rear window only sends an FM signal. The roof aerial sends FM and AM signals. The antenna on the back window is amplified but the roof aerial is not.

Thanks for that. I'll need to get the roof lining out and check to see if the connection is loose or not made.
