Taking my new car to get serviced at Awesome GTI and just wondered if anyone else here has had any experience with them?! any reviews would be much appreciated and I will be logging my own experience here aswell!
-
Bought a few bits from them and had my car mapped by them and I'd reccomend them. Not had any mechanical stuff done though, heard bad things about them years ago but nothing recent!
Always very friendly and happy to chat though!
-
had my car repaired there-excellent service just a bit pricey on some things
-
seem a little pricey, but had my car dyno'ed there and they're a good bunch of lads
-
No problems to report when using them.
-
Never used them for servicing or fitting work but the online sales side of the business is shockingly bad IMHO, they don't list stock levels on the website and just about every I have ever ordered from them has been out of stock. The time taken to reply to enquiries on orders is very slow too and they debit the money from your card straight away even when they can't supply the order immediately.
So for me they are one to be avoided.

Had no problems with them when I ordered the WALK kit
-
Wish I had used them to order my catch can it would have been here by now. Stevie.

The answers in your question bud.
Taken 4 cars there over the years. All had the cambelt n water pumps done there. 2 have been taken up to stage 2 (obviously involved fitting milltek systems etc)n 2 to stage 1. The service and after care ive recieved there has been out of this world. Their knowledge of VAG range is 2nd to none, the staff are very friendly n will quite happily stand n talk cars all day. N as for mark n jim... Quality fellas. Not many places you can chat with the 'suits' of a company about your car. Theyll bend over backwards to help with any issues n theyre competitively priced against its rivals.
I personally wudnt consider any other place to take my beloved

I like the lads there, and I'm happy to buy stuff off them (who cuts their nose off to spite their face if something's cheaper?) and go to dyno days, which I think they do very well.
However I wouldn't ever let their workshop touch one of my cars again and I could give you a list as long as my arm of people who'll tell you likewise. Maybe things have changed? I won't risk it though, I have a trusted specialist and I see no reason to move.
I've used Votex in Congleton for 6-7 years now and never had anything but exceptional service. :happy2:

My brother had hos car mapped there and I used to buy stuff from them for my MK2 golfs, as steve said online side is not great, mis-haps are common.
Would not take a car there for servicing/maintenance as i think they are a bit pricey compared to others, but for shopping and re-maps OK.
Only this week I bought some Autohaus plate surrounds from their website and got them delivered just fine, unfortunately my mother did not realise I had got them and bought a set on ebay (using her own ebay account), she emailed them and asked for the item to be cancelled as I had already bought them myself, they replied saying no problem, but yesterday they opened an unpaid item case against her :stupid:
Will have to email Awesome myself and get them to sort it as dont want mum getting an unpaid item strike on her account, failing that she will have to forward awesome's email to ebay customer support and get it removed by them (she sells a LOT more on Ebay than awesome do ).

always been helpful with any enquries i've had

Interesting variety of responses.
More or less confirms what I think of them. Quite a friendly bunch of guys to talk to but the management nowadays seems very overly profit orientated - I've heard they set sales quotas. I prefer to be advised honestly and not in relation to making a sale to me whether a product is good for me or not.
This recent fiasco with APR and Revo really puts me off them completely. It's neither APR nor Revo's fault but more the way Awesome have behaved. They like to monopolise.
I would take tony_danza's advice and go where he recommends - He's a geezer who knows what he's talking about and always tells it as it is.
If you were down south I would strongly recommend JKM.

+1 . If money is taken from your acc immediately then you expect your product to be delivered in at least a couple of days. As steve said, sh*te online service. Always some fcuk up along the line.

Surprising that folks are experiencing bad online service because I hear that Awesome's man in charge comes from a hard-nosed online background (and nothing related to car products).
Suppliers I usually deal with might take your account details but NEVER take the money until the goods are dispatched - That's absolutely how it should be and no other way!
It's not often I post this:

I used them a few times, but won't again... the REVO/APR debacle and "awesome TAX" on products take the biscuit.

Yeah they made a name and now their prices reflect that, 10 mins on google and you can find most stuff cheaper elsewhere :happy2:

Jim's a nice bloke, I first bought something off him when he was trading out of a shed, before he moved to School Lane.
Back then with Andy from PSI on the tools they were a good outfit. Since moving they've tried to be a cross between a main dealer and Demon Tweeks, with neither the skills nor service to back up their prices.
As for the Revo/APR debarcal, well that just goes to show how desperate they are. No respect for that kind of decision at all, you may as well have slapped your customer around the face as you took their money. Disgusting.
-
only purchased number plate surrounds from them and had no issues. came quickly, but had to return 1 which i wasn't 100% happy with, However it was and effortless exchange process. :happy2: thumbs up

Awesome have always done right by me, had my RSC cat fail on its MOT a few months back, no issues they changed it foc and let me have a courtesy car for the duration. So to be honest I can't fault them
